Thanks GGK, I love my little lassie's name Big Grin

This is an exert of Diana's blog that I found about her upcoming book, "An Echo in the Bone"

It says when she hopes to finish the book. It looks like we may be waiting a little while yet Frowner

Blog Exert Below:

"And for those who might have missed earlier news-bulletins regarding Book Seven...

1. I hope to finish this book by the end of next year-2008.

2. It's up to the publisher-not me-as to when the book actually appears on the shelves, once finished.

3. Yes, this is the book that follows A Breath of Snow and Ashes, in the main Outlander series.

4. Yes, it is about Jamie and Claire (other people, too, to be sure, but it's still their story).

5. Yes, Young Ian is in it. So are Ian the Elder and Jenny.

6. Yes, Roger, Brianna, Jemmy, and Amanda are all in it, too.

7. Yes, there is time-travel in it.

8. No, I'm not telling you who, when, or where. [g]

9. No, this isn't the last book in the main series, either."

I have to admit that I am a Nickolas Sparks FREAK!! Razzer

I love his books, they make me cry everytime.

But I will have to try these books by Diana Gabaldon, they sound good too.

I could not say enough about Ms.Gabaldon as an author, other than she is tied for my favorite with Katherine Neville author of The Eight, & The Fire (she has other books she's written, but out of the series).

I could not get Ms.Gabaldon's 800-900 page books fast enough. I've also read the Lord John series she wrote, although good, the story of Jaime and Claire are by far the most gripping, but there is some anecdotal pieces that fit into the storyline of the Outlander series, being as Lord John was also a character in that one originally.

And btw ~ Lord John is a Gay character. It would never deter me, but I know there are some who would be shocked, so, there you go, no shocker now.

And Shawn ~ If my idgets hadn't been born already by the time I read her series, they could've well ended up being a Jaime or Claire, lol. The name does suit Princess Lillian though. Smiler

One more thing Shawn, If you loved the Outlander series, you must read this book called Festival by Victoria Barret.

I had to wonder if Ms. Gabaldon had used another pen name for the storyline at least in this one. You'll see what I mean if you read it.

Reading through this, I'm anxious to find the library now!! We hadn't done that yet since we moved - I love to read and my grandmother tends to send books over so they've been keeping me busy, but aren't always what I enjoy reading (I'm one of those that has to finish a book even if I don't like it). This series sounds like it might be good!

oooh, I am a big big reader! Major book worm I must admit! I always have a book going but I have never heard of Diane Gabaldon! I'm heading to the library tomorrow! For those avid readers, I highly recommend Karen Kinsgbury. I stumbled on her books by accident and have read every single book but the last one that came out last month. Many of her books are also series books and are fabulous! She's a christian author, however, her books are not overly religious. Her books touch on real life situations that we can all relate to in one way or another. Danielle Steel is my favorite since I was a little girl. I've also read all of hers, along with Nicholas Sparks (OF COURSE!) and Emily Giffin is also good. Her novels are lots of fun! (Something Blue, Something Borrowed, Baby Blues).

alsan ~

The series is BETTER than good, it's the best series I've ever read. I like Ms.Neville's series, as I mentioned, she's another favorite, but entirely for different reasons. And I've got to give Gabaldon kudos, she's incredibly prolific, which to someone who reads much or can't get enough of a good storyline, is WONDERFUL. Even if you bought these from the bookstore, you more than get your money's worth, they have them in paperback at Books~A~Million for somewhere between 8 & 12$, I couldn't say how much elsewhere? And the Outlander series with Jaime and Claire, I don't think there's a book in that bunch under 800 pages. I just know if you do happen to buy these books, you more than get your money's worth. But you won't be disappointed no matter how you get introduced to this series. I kind of compare this series to those certain movies you end up buying eventually. Some movies are rentworthy, but you just wouldn't care if you watched them again. But then there are those certain movies you just have to have in your collection, to watch anytime you want to, and also so, you know the characters live with YOU. Smiler

Just wanted to add, the Lord John series with her books are more the normal length per se.

(llymom3 ~ I always love hearing of new authors to consider ~thanks for the heads up. Smiler

I'm just back from the library, I'm ready for the kids to go to bed now so I can get started on it. I made sure to get Outlander, so I can read them in order. I just read your post, Gjee, if I like this one I might buy instead of check out the others. There's not many books I read over and over - Gone with the Wind, The Five People You Meet in Heaven are a couple. We'll see. Is it bedtime yet? Smiler

I agree! They are, by far, my favorite books! I love them so much. I have read the series in whole probably 10 times.

When a new book comes out that follows the series; I start from the begining with Outlander and read them in order to go with that highly anticipated new one.

Definitely a story to revisit over and over again.

I can still remember the first time I read Outlander- it was Nov of 1994 Smiler

Well ~ I thought I was Ms.Gabaldon's biggest fan Shawn ~ but I only found her late last year. Smiler And I've read every book in the Outlander series thus far, and then read the Lord John series. I'm about to start rereading them myself since I can hardly wait for An Echo in the Bone.

It was funny though, while reading them, I thought of you. I didna know you had read these, but somehow knew you'd love them. Sometimes I just ken such, but I really didna expect to find you that long of a fan. And I'm verra curious as to whether rwallace has read them yet, what with her interest in the Scottish and the kilt~ed. WinkSmiler

What's also interesting to me, and I know it's coincidental to a degree, but an interesting one nonetheless, a lot of the books I've randomly picked since reading her books with their accent on Scottish history, a lot of ones I've come across have had a Scottish theme to them. Like that book Festival I mentioned. Eerily similar in plot and character, at least to the Jaime~Claire love story. Anyway, I seem to be drawing that type of book, even with random choices like I've made at Goodwill and~or used book sellers. Not sure why, perhaps I just needed to bone up on the wee bit of Scottish/Irish side of my background, since I've researched the other facets of it more.

I found these books from this thread a few weeks ago Smiler I've just started the third, Voyager. I devoured the first one, loved it! I did have a hard time getting into the second one, I think because she kept explaining things, in case someone hadn't read the first, but I found it distracting. Once I finally got into it, I finished it pretty quickly and went to the library the next day for the third. With the third I'm getting frustrated not finding enough time to read, all the interruptions from the kids. I do go down to the bus stop about 30 minutes early in the afternoons. The little 2 sleep while we wait and I can read a little in peace. Smiler I'm enjoying them even more than I thought I would and hate to put it down, wanting to find out what's going to happen.

Oh Alicia! I am so giddy with your update! I am the first to admit, and I think I already have here (?), the second one is the hardest to get through, but once you have, it is so worth it in the long run. All else that follows falls into place. Smiler

Thank you for talking Outlander with me Big Grin

Yesterday my two year old, who is still trying to get over the flu, was miserable and just wanted to be held. So we snuggled in my chair most of the day and I got nothing done around the house, but got a lot of reading done! Smiler My husband wanted me to go to Lakeland to pick up a few things, including dinner, I was like "but I'm reading!" I did go, the thought of not cooking was too great. I'll probably try to get to the library tomorrow for the fourth as I should be done with Voyager in a day or so. I always look up the libraries beforehand to see who has the one I want on the shelf, so I don't have to wait. I had made a list of the books in order from your post before and keep it in my library bag so I can make sure I get the right one.
