Do any of you listen to the John Tesh show? I have been when I walk and jog in the afternoon. Good tips on that show.

One of the tips on the show was if you have teenagers you should look up your child's boyfriend/girlfriend to get a heads up on some personality traits of your child's supposed significant other.

I really had a hard time with Brandon dating, esp. at first. He is, well maybe not as bad as he was, so naive and vulnerable.

Can there really be someone good enough for your children-lol.

Anyway, before Christmas Brandon was seeing a "young lady” that had a myspace account and she didn't realize I had one too. Wow! The things coming out of this girl’s mouth could make a sailor blush. I told Brandon that I can see her "junk". She of course went to private on the account but I could still see her comments on my son's page and they have the emiocons that still show on a private page. The one she used---uuugh makes me mad now.

Any way, I told Brandon a girl like that can only lead to heart break or trouble. Thank God it was the heartbreak. I think it was a learning lesson for him for sure.

Before she broke my baby's heart, she then made a facebook account and encouraged him to as well.
I do not have an account there. But my boy still invited me to his page Big Grin, what a good babe. I guess I should check it too.

I've never been on Facebook. However, I did finally set up a Myspace page about a month ago.

I thought it was just for teens, but I started finding more and more adults on there. A couple of my friends set up pages, and there is even a reunion page for our high school graduating class. I decided to "jump on the bandwagon" and set up an account.

I made my account private to hopefully keep out the "crazies" and spam. I have been able to reconnect with old friends, and keep up better with my current friends and long-distance friends. I keep finding more and more people that I know or used to know. I think it's kind of neat.

I think Myspace (or Facebook) is fine as long as it doesn't get out of hand. I just like being able to catch up with friends, especially since most are working moms and I am a SAHM!

I was just curious, with some of the latest newstories about Myspace, what others thoughts on it were. My kids are too young to have one, but I'm sure they will want to when they are older (if it is still around). I will be sure to monitor what they do, and probably their friends too! A few times when I've done some searching on Myspace, I am really surprised at what I see and read. I just can't believe people don't monitor or don't care what their children put out on myspace or the internet!

Shawn, that's great that your son invited you to his page. He's not hiding anything, (like some teens) and doesn't mind you checking him. Hopefully, he did learn his lesson about that girl or girls like that!

Tricia, I do feel very lucky that we are so close. He is a great son and young man. I'm proud to have him.

I for a long time prior to my myspace account thought it was for teens too. I was prompted to open an account from an out of town friend I went to school with that had one.

I also found it useful to find people wanting to give me story ideas for writing Ledger articles.

i have a myspace page. my sister talked me into setting one up. and i'm glad because i'm not very close with a couple of my cousins just cause we grew up in diffrent states. and now with myspace we write each other and keep updates. my one cousin will be going to iraq soon, so hopefully we can keep being posted on his progress there. also i have had some high school class mates contact me so it's really neat to see whats going on back home.
thankfully my daughter is wayyyy tooo young to have either one of these accounts. but when she is old enough i am sure i will keep really close computer tabs on her.

JamilaM, which one do you like better if you have both? My son said he likes Myspace better, I thought he even said that you have to invite people to your facebook page?-maybe I am wrong?

I have My Space too, Ny Neices and Nephews talked me into getting one, I moved to Florida ( for the second time) in 98 leaving all My Neices and Nephew to whom i was extremely close to , so know i just go on there to see what is happening....
I think its not a bad place , unless you make it ..
I do not think young children should have a My space account even if they are set to private ...I know someone that actually set up an account for her Daughter who is only 8~ that in my opinion is wrong!

I've had a myspace a few years I think now. I got one when a good friend of mine did. She only got one at first to keep an eye on her 16 yr old grand daughter. A good thing too. Her and her friends didn't have it set to private and would say what school they went to and posted their phone numbers, all kinds of info they should NOT have. Thankfully my friend saw all that and made them take all that off.

I've enjoyed it there for the most part. The errors you get at times can be very aggravating huh? lol But I have met some neat and interesting people there. Smiler
