I wonder if Mr. Nicholas Sparks even needs an introduction?

I read a quote one time that Nicholas Sparks gave about a man writing love stories. He commented back along the lines of, - "I write stories about life, and life should include love."

Uh, WOW! A man said this!

I have always thought, if this man is for real, and can write, much less consider in his mind a falling in love scenario that convincing, then he needs to be cloned and passed around for each of us to have one Big Grin

I read the notebook several years ago and enjoyed it.

I friend of mine mentioned to me she was reading some of his books lately after she had surgery. It inspired me to read him after mine. I read 3 of his books in 2 days- talk about inspired!

So I am now at a total of 4 I have read.

The Notebook

Dear John

The Rescue

A Walk to Remember

I just started reading At First Site. Needless to say, I've become a fan.

It seems Hollywood is too. Several of his books have become movies.

Tell me ladies; are you fans too of the books, movies, both?

Which movie do you like best?

Which book is your favorite?

I LOVE Nicholas Sparks. I first read The Notebook when I was in high school and my boyfriend told me it was a must-read. I've been hooked ever since.

Along with the Notebook I've read Message in a Bottle; The Wedding; The Guardian; A Walk to Remember; A Bend in the Road; Dear John; Nights in Rodanthe; True Believer and At First Sight.

He amazes me with every book he writes and always leaves me looking at the store for another one!

I've only seen the movies for Message in a Bottle and A Walk to Remember, and while they were both good movies there is something about reading the books that is so much 'more'. He really draws you in to the story so that you can imagine yourself as part of it.

Oh, by the way Shawn - do you know that At First Sight is a follow up to True Believer? If you aren't too far in to it you may want to read it first (I have it if you want to borrow).

I have read EVERY SINGLE Nicholas Sparks book. His latest, Dear John, was great. My favorites still have to be The Notebook and The Wedding. I also love the movie. Message in the Bottle is a little older, but one of my favorites too. I can't wait for his next book! Also, can't wait to see Nights in Rodanthe in theaters. I read pretty every night before bed, as time permits of course---if I have to say I've cried reading a book, it would be reading his books.

I love Nicholas Sparks! The first book I read was The Notebook, and it's my favorite. It's also one of my favorite movies! I've also read The Wedding, True Believer, At First Sight, Dear John, and The Choice. I loved the movie A Walk to Remember, but I haven't read the book yet. I did see the movie Nights in Rodanthe, and yes it is a tear jerker! I can't wait for his latest book, The Lucky One! I'm sure it will be fantastic!

I have to say...my favorite topic to date!!!!!! He is my all-time favorite!! I love him, his books, and the movies!!! I just finished reading Nights in Rodanthe (I wanted to read it before I saw the movie) and I have to say I have never cried so hard in my life over a book!!! I have to tell a secret here (only cause I love you guys and we can be honest here!!)...the only reading time I can find is potty time!! So I am on the toilet the other night trying to finish this book and crying so hard that I can't wipe the tears fast enough to keep the pages from getting soaked!! My eyes were puffy the next morning!! I find myself so drawn in all of his stories but this book I could really relate to. Seven years ago, I lost my husband to death and I could so feel the pain of the characters. That's what I love about his books...they are so real life.

I have read The Notebook (saw the movie), Message in a Bottle (saw the movie), A Walk to Remember (saw movie), True Believer, At First Sight, Nights in Rodanthe, & Dear John.

As a treat to myself, I will pick up his latest or find the on discount book sites. My goal is to own his entire collection.

I agree with the fact that a man that can write love stories is definitely worth cloning!!! From all I have read about him...he is a wonderful father and loving husband. His wife is sooooo lucky!! And he is a treat to the eye, too!!!!

Hmmmm, talking about him reminds me...I need a new book...off to search for one....I just can't get enough!! Happy Reading!!

And, Michelle, find one. Every lady needs him in their lives!!!

I am a big reader, but have never read any of his books. I did love the movie The Notebook. I read somewhere that he is writing a movie directly for Miley Cyrus... that should be interesting!

Mommy of 3, your story made me laugh! I get into my books but only one book made me cry. We were on a road trip & I was finishing up Jodie Picoult's "My Sister's Keeper." I was sitting there in the car crying. Take that back, I was bawling! Hubby turns to me & says what's going on??? He said if it was going to get me that upset, don't read it... He just didn't understand!! Roll Eyes

I LOVE Nicholas Sparks!!!!! His books are awesome!!!

I have not read all of them but most of them. I did finish Nights in Rodanthe right before the movie came out and I do have to admit that I was a little disappointed in the movie. I don't think it portrayed the book as well as it should have. Frowner The man/woman relationship part of the movie was great but I thought there was a much deeper part to the mother/daughter relationship that the movie did not touch on. It was still a good movie though.
My husband makes fun of me because he can tell when I am towards the end of the book because I am crying.....but I imagine that is normal!!! Smiler

All in all, I LOVE Nicholas Sparks...........and we should all have one of him.

Has anyone read any of the books that he has done with his brother?? I have not.

Shiloh,

The lady that inspired me to start reading his books again told me about "Three Weeks with My Brother" it’s about his life.

She said do not read this one first! She also said that it is so much more poignant after you read his fictional books because you can later feel where he picked up parts of his stories from his own life. She said pieces of him float through all his books. When she told me this, I got goose bumps!

I plan on reading as many of his books as I can get my hands on and THEN dive into his non-fiction story

LittleT I didn't know I am reading a continuation. And I just did start it, so easy enough to set aside until I read the first. Thanks for telling me! And yes, I will take you up on the lend- thanks!

Are there any other books in a series I should be warned about?

And let me tell you ladies, I am not generally a crier, but these books make me SOB like a baby. If someone can read A Walk to Remember with out busting a tear, you are one tough cookie! Red Face

Shawn,
Good advice.........I will definitely have to do that!!

I have to admit so far, I have enjoyed Dear John the best. Not that the end of the book turns out so well (for John)..........I don't know, just thought it was a good story. I guess I am attached to military since my brother serves but it is an AWESOME book but yet another tear jerker!!! Smiler

I suppose I should break down and either check them out - after Shawn gets done returning them that is - click here to see Shawn's Books-by-Mail BLOG - Wink - or buy them myself - I was checking out at a store recently and the lady in front of me had several of these books she was buying! I would never have paid much attention had you ladies not introduced me to Nicholas Sparks! BTW - how is the reading going, Shawn??

I'm reading, A Bend In the Road. I am half way through it, but never have the time to pick it up lately. Through chorus concerts, soccer practice, doctor appointments, sick kiddos, work and a husband that claims I don' spend enough time with him, I'm lucky to get a shower every night Roll Eyes
