I went to a teacher inservice yesterday and came away with a great resource tool.
click here to read about the book-- Models for Teaching Writing-Craft Target Skills click here to view book info at BARNES 'n NOBLE I love the fact this book is a one stop shop of writing skills and techniques using literature where trade books and educational publications [including fiction and non-fiction] are partnered with each writing skill. Book sections are organized with definitions of terms, examples of skills, and then trade or educational literature resources. A bibliography is listed with each writing technique or skill being discussed and outlined. An Index of Literature Cited is at the end of the book followed by a section titled Target Skills Cross-Index and Blank Target Skills Templates that you can use how you need. This is very cool! It has a list of nearly all the cited books listed on charts that check off description of skills, informational text structure, and literary composing all seen at a glance. quote from the book "Remember, "Writing process is what writers do; writing craft is what they know." Michelle "Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain but for the heart to conquer it."
