OK, everyone. I am finally getting around to posting about our computer problems.
For the past several weeks I have had intermittent use of our computer. We even took it into the shop and after 3-4 days and $250.00 later, we thought all would be well. Not so, I continue to get booted, have "Error" messages, "page can not be displayed" messages, then the system shows that our computer is online and also showing disabled at the same time, as well as freezing up on me altogether and/or not allowing me to even open a browser at all! Adding to this, there are times I can get online, only to be allowed to work for just under and hour (again, not very well, though) and then boom, everything starts to act up and freeze up, taking pages to refresh or come up for minutes at a time. By minutes, I mean like 15! I have had the computer techs from our service provider out many, many times and 3 times in one week before our vacation recently. They keep saying, "Nope, not us, the computer." OF COURSE!! I just took the computer in again only to receive a call saying it is working very well. We agreed I should go into the shop and navigate around as I would at home to see for myself. I thought this was good to have a baseline from home to computer shop. Well, what has been taking me nearly 2-3 HOURS to accomplish at home took me under 10 minutes at the shop. It is most definitely NOT my computer. Mind you all I do is post to Polk Moms, check email, and do some research some nights once the boys are in bed. I am not running programs, playing games, watching DVDs, or doing anything that requires strict programming of any kind. Basics! The computer techs are coming out again this new week and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me? At setting the appointment, I told them I wanted the modem and router completely removed and new ones set up. Oh, when we had the service installed, it took them about 4 days of being here from 8AM-6PM to get the job up and running finally. We've had ongoing problems since, where the router or modem doesn't "dump" whatever that means for 90 days or so. Any suggestions???? PS-----Every single time I get or send a PM to someone, Shawn gets it kicked back TWICE. So, the Ledger techs are looking into it on their end as well. I was beginning to wonder if it had anything to do with Polk Moms considering their problems not long ago, but don't know what to think really. An update.....
We had two techs out yesterday and one is coming back later today. What is (still) happening is our lap top will allow me very minimal usage for about an hour. That is, the windows take forever to reload/refresh/open altogether, error messages stating "Page can not be displayed" come up, and sometimes, when I open the browser itself I get an error message with options to send report or not. When we click not to, the entire browser closes down. So, we double click again and then it may take about 10 minutes or more for all our tabs to be ready for use. Also, often just a blank page will show. It can take up to 15-30 minutes for a page to appear in the window. We keep several tabs in action (we've input the addresses of the ones we use the most into our "Internet Options" so these are readily accessible upon opening our browser) so we can easily research and school, if the boys each want to research different things, or I want to run searches as I am also online with Polk Moms, I just flip from one tab to the other. Anyway, we had the router and modem both replaced yesterday and today we'll be adding a wireless card (I think it's called that?) to the desktop computer my husband used to use in order to determine if the issue is our lap top or our provider connection system. So, if anyone has suggestions on what to ask about or specifically look into, we're all ears! Oh, one last thing, anyone know how to change the setting to allow me to click to reply, edit, etc. without having to hold the control button at the same time as clicking the other option(s)? This is rather annoying and we don't know why it's set this way..... OK, one more last thing....pictures won't load or even show sometimes, like now, for instance, no one's avatars are showing, even my own, for me. Ok, Ok, this is my last one.....anyway to add a flash (?) something so that I can see pictures, if that is the issue? Someone did say that could be it??? Thanks for putting up with me!
