I can not stand getting emails that say don't buy certain products because they can kill you or cause cancer and what not. I got one the other day that said please help find this girl- well the girl is not missing I've seen the same email passed around and around- Then I got one that said watch out in the movies and at gas pumps they are putting HIV positive needles under the pump handles and in the seats at the movies... A lot of people don't know what to believe with some of these emails that they get. A friend of mine sent me www.snopes.com and told me when I get emails like this verify them with the site. Snopes has all kinds of information about these "Urban legends" and tales that are being passed around.
I check snopes.com before I forward anything on since most of the fwds I was getting were not true. Hope you find the site as interesting as I did! Melissa- Mommy to four!! Felicity, Alayna, Bryson and Gavin |

I hate those forwarded emails too! What I like to do is whenever I get one of those emails if I can find it on snopes I will forward the link to the person that sent it to me.
The most recent one I gotten (& I found it on snopes too) was the one about the gang initation here in Polk County. It's the one that says that on a certain day, someone will ram you from behind to stage a accident then shoot you when you get out of your car. What I don't understand is how these stories even get started. If no one has came forward & say "Hey, that happen to me" then how can it be true & how did the story begin? |
