All you Coca - Cola drinkers should stock up on the beverage if you have the space, particularly if you find a good deal. The beverage giant announced they will be upping their prices this coming fall.

The company also reported a decline in sales. I wonder if it's because people are cutting back costs? Carbs?

What do you think? Any die hard Coke fans out there?

It could be a ploy to affect stock, but it could also be a decision made from a public relations standpoint. They may have given the "advance notice" so to speak so that consumers aren't as upset by the increase as if they were blindsided by it with no warning.

Also, because it is technically the bottler raising the price it may be a matter of selling remaining inventory (of the bottles, not the actual beverage) at current prices and projecting an increase for future production.

It could also be tied to budget year (which may begin/end in the fall).

I can't say that I'm surprised though. It makes sense that their input prices would be going up (everything is...gas, raw materials, etc.) and if it has reached the point that it's affecting bottom line there may not be much else to do about it.

All that being said, I'm not a huge 'soda' drinker in general, but if I'm gonna have one I would definitely prefer Coca-Cola products over Pepsi! After all, I'm a Georgia girl Smiler (Coke's headquarters are in Atlanta)

Why not? With the price of everything else going up.......why not Coke too?

I am actually trying not to drink it, but I am a HUGE fan of Diet Coke!! I have limited myself to one a day and that is a big deal since I don't drink coffee and have to get my caffiene somehow! Smiler

I know I have certainly noticed my grocery bill slowly going up the past few months!

Michelle, Coca- Cola stock actually went down by this announcement quite a bit! "Coca-Cola Co. shares fell $2, or 3.8 percent, to close at $50.34 Thursday."

I definitely can see the down hill affect happening in most consumer products. Like LittleT said, when a company's belt is tightened they're going to make up for it in price.

I used to be addicted to Coca- Cola. I would drink 2 or 3 a day for caffeine. I loved it!

When I got a little older aka smartened up, I started drinking black coffee instead. I lost 20 pounds with out even trying just by not drinking soda anymore. All that sugar will pack on the pounds!

I actually already thought their prices have gone up. You use to be able to find 12 pack cans 2 for $5 all the time- no more.

The price of all things is steadily rising. Grocery shopping day no longer includes the "I wants," just the I needs!
And though, I'm just an occasional cold beer drinker, and a Coors Light, at that, I resent foreign buyers taking over Busch.
