Jamey is wanting to do this too..........Shawn's story was kind of scary....hopefully it is a rare occasion.......we have both decided that we do not want any more children....1 little girl to spoil is enough- I am 21 and he is 33........he says he is getting too old for this already!!!!!
Birth Control has always caused undesirable side effects and our only other choice is to do what Shawn did for the rest of our lives......and those even are irritating....... so I guess he will just have to have it done.....I had my little girl completely natural and I think if I went through that much pain giving him a child, he can do this for me!!!! Big Grin He says he's not afraid of the Vasectomy itself just the idea of them messing with that area of him.....I guess with men that's the most valuable part of the body!!! Big Grin

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT TO WORRY ABOUT BEFORE HE GETS INTO THE DOCTOR...HIS BUDDIES! oh my gosh, MY DH'S FRIENDS TOLD HIM HORRER STORIES LIKE YOU WOULDN'T BELIVE. THAT HIS "BUDDIES" DOWN THERE WOULD START TO DROOP TO HIS KNEES. THAT ALL HE WOULD DO NOW IS SIT ON THE COUCH AND GAIN ABOUT 30 LBS., THAT THE HAIR ON HIS CHEST WOULD START DISSAPEARING, HIS HAIR ON HIS HEAD WOULD START THINNING. YOU NAME IT. THEY WERE MY WORST ENEMIES RIGHT BEFORE THE SURGERY. DON'T LET HIM TALK TO ANYONE, JUST GET HIM TO THE DOCTOR. I KNOW IT SOUNDS SO FUNNY, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MEN AND THIER PRIVATE PARTS, HE REALLY DID TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. LOL

My husband and I have been talking about this. He is 25 and I'm 24 with our 4 kids- we think its time to do something. I took birth control and I've done the depo and I can't stand the bleeding it causes. I was going to get fixed after Gavin, but they wanted me to do the Essure procedure and I am not really comfortable with doing that. The law has changed again also- now it says you have to be 28 to get your tubes tied. You'd think they'd let us decide when we are ready to be done.
We are waiting on him to start his job and for us to get our insurance again so that he can go get it done. Right now we have share of cost and I don't know of many places that will take that.

Also- they tried to push me to get the IUD- I wouldn't get that if my life depended on it. I've heard to many stories, know one person that got pregnant with it in, and from working in the office several of the girls didn't like it and had it taken out after 6-12 months.

I thought the law was that if married, the woman needed her husband's consent? There's an age requirement, too?? And I agree. It's a catch-22, children have babies, yet when you are an adult and want to stop, check the law first. Roll Eyes

It seems so unnatural to have something in there all the time irritating the lining. Gives me the squeeemies!

I know the new law- was so angry when they did that- cause with Bryson is was 21 or 3 kids- then they changed it- But now is 28- unless you can find a doctor that is willing. On the forms you do not have to have your spouses consent to be fixed.
I worked at Lakeland Obgyn in the midwives office- there are 2 doctors that would do it in the hospital since I had 4 kids- the one doctor I will not let touch me. I do not like her and blame her for the heart issues Bryson had- (long story) The other was Caravello- but he wanted me to get the Essure done in the office. Not sure if you know what that is but umm no- not for me- I seen too many girls come out of there in so much pain and -- just read about it and you might understand.
They are finding that more and more people are getting their tubes tied then going to get them untied. The Essure is non reversible.

As for the IUD- you have to check it monthly to make sure the string is there. Not sure about anyone else but to me that is a little much- I want something that I don't have to worry with at all... lol..
