I have the regular standard tag on my vehicles right now but I am considering a specialty tag for hubby's birthday (shhhhh don't tell him, it isn't until Sept 29th).

This can be a great way to tell the world what is important to you. Specialty tags are also a way to fund those causes. A portion of your payment of a specialty tag goes to the organization it displays.

Do any of you carry specialty tags on your vehicles? And if so, what cause was important enough for you to choose that tag? (lol- what'cha get?)

The link - several pages of tags for the state of Florida to choose from.

I had no idea there was so many!

Scroll to the last 2 pages and it shows the specialty tag rankings (which theme sold the most) from the last 5 years.

Sorry Seminole fans, The Gator tag topped you all 5 of these years.

Check it out

my husband and i both have specialty tags. i have save the sea turtles. and he has a marlin fish one, not sure but theres a fish on it. i think it is neat that the money for the tags go to that specific thing. when it's time to update my husband wants to get the one with the diver and sharks on it. i will probably stick with saving the sea turtles.

My husband and I both have Ag Tags. Their proceeds go to Florida Ag in the Classroom which is a non-profit dedicated to expanding youth awareness and understanding of Florida agriculture and natural resources. Ag in the Classroom provides workshops and support materials for teachers and also hosts Ag Literacy Day, where more than 1,500 members of Florida's ag community go out in to elementary and pre-schools and read a selected book (this year's book was specially written by the Fl. Dept. of Ag about all of Florida's many products) to the students. At the end of the day the books are then donated to the schools for future use. It's a great way to both teach kids about agriculture (so they realize milk comes from a cow, not Publix) and to encourage them to read.

Sorry, I know I got sidetracked there. In case you can't tell I'm pretty passionate about the cause I support through my tag!

To answer the question, no we don't have specialty tags, but have considered it. We see so many around! Some we never even knew about, too. We'll take a browse through the link. GO GATORS!! (I tried to do that in orange, but the system doesn't seem to have orange as a color option. Frowner

Courtney, I wanted to tell you when I lived in a beach community, I volunteered moved sea turtle eggs several times!

Wow! Who knew there was so many to chose from. On my car I have a standard tag. On my husband's he has an antique tag. I would love to have a speciality tag, but which one do I choose? Knowing me I would not choose the cause I would chose the design of the tag. Such a girl thing to do.

So I looked at the ranking of the tags and I feel bad for the Tree's and Spring's of Florida. No one has purchased any of them.

vegaralat i think a lot of people just look at the tags and pick the neates looking one. i have to admitt my husband only picked his because it was the same color as his truck. but i picked mine because i really do think the sea turtles need help.

michelle that is awesome you helped move eggs. when we went to the beach last week we seen a bunch of roped off places that had eggs under the sand.

It was very cool! Of course, we had to do it in the middle of the night and not turn or tip the eggs as that would damage the development of the wee ones, but it felt so good to do something like that. Smiler

LittleT - wow are you educated in your tag cause! You go girl- I am a total nut, I mean passionate (lol) about many causes. I could spout and spew about a few.

I am looking to get the soccer tag for Eddy. He is a soccer fanatic and he would love the fact that it supports funding for underprivileged children to play, for multiple soccer organizations, and upkeep of fields.

Last year as a coach he talked the organization he coaches with into letting some children play free because they were from single parent homes that could not afford to register. They agreed. These kids were so excited; they had never been able to play before.
