It seems pets are getting the short end of stick with financial hardships turning up left and right. I know a lot of people are cutting back to make ends meet. For some it could be the sacrifice of giving up a family pet.
The rescue I work with has slowed to almost no adoptions here lately and way more surrenders. Donations are fewer, adoptions are fewer, and surrenders are increasing and shelters are overflowing. If you think you can afford to take care of a pet the right way and have considered an adoption, now could make a difference in an animals life. This is very sad. I know many elderly that have much loved furry friends who this will undoubtedly effect, too.
