I am 4 weeks pregnant and I go to Dr. Ratleff right now but for my 1st pregnancy I went to Dr. Solomon. I didn't care much for Dr Solomon in the end after I delivered... she really upset me over some things and I now go to Dr Ratleff, I am not sure about her either because the last time she saw me she was a bit rude and she instructed the nurse to finish up with me and give me a RX and she told me it was for one thing that the doc said I didn't have when it was infact for something totally different. I am not sure what to do but I need to figure out who I would like to go to this time around. Dr Solomon knows all my problems, and my 3 hr birth from the time my water broke at my work until I actually delivered. I don't know what to do. What do you guys think??

Sorry you are having to face this problem. I don't understand how some doctors can be like that. I think you should go with the one you feel the most comfortable with because otherwise that is something that could cause you stress your whole pregancy and that isn't healthy for you and the baby. My doctor is Dr. Garas at Watsons Clinic and he is really great.

I go to Dr. Gabriel at the Bond Clinic in WH. He is GREAT! Very personable, has a sense of humor and always takes all the time I need. I can bring a list of questions in, ask all of them & he still double checks to make sure I dont have any more. LOL - Ill have a huge list, ask them all and he says "thats it??" lol.
He is also very easy to get an appointment with (the female doctors always book quicker) - usual wait time for non emergencys is only about a week.

I think pregnancy is one of the biggest things a woman can go through in life.

It should be nothing but a positive experience for you.

You can find someone that you can be happy and comfortable with- I know- I found my great OB- Dr. Hopper at South Watson Clinic. ALOT of his collegues are wonderful as well.

There is actually a thread here on PolkMoms you can scroll through with some momma feedback on good OB's check it out, find a doctor you feel comfortable with, and come back with updates.

Good luck!

Ok rwallace... you have twisted my arm! lol! JK! It's funny you put this because out of all of them at Bond Clinic I loved him the most but had never had a "guy" OB. I only saw him once for the Routine "meet all the dr.'s before you go into labor" appointments. He actually "stipped my membranes" which I hear a lot of docs don't do and I had my precious baby girl 3 days later which made me LOVE HIM MORE... so before I even read this today, yesterday I went to have my blood test done and they asked me if I wanted to see Dr Solomon again for this pregnancy and I told them absolutely not, I wanted Dr Gabriel. He was super sweet and did act like he had a pretty good sense of humor... I am still just so "freaked out" about having a guy as an OB just because I don't feel like I can ask him the nasty personal questions I would be able to with a woman doctor that "KNOWS" how it feels to go through those things! Know what I mean? What do you think about that? Do you feel like you can really talk to him about that stuff without it being too uncomfy?

I know where where your coming from on the male OB thing. Before I moved to FL, I always had a female OB. I actually ended up with Dr Gabriel when I moved because both of the female doctors were booked out for 1-2 months! With Dr Gabriel, I was able to get in within a few days.

Anyway - I think it was a great decision. I feel confident that I can ask him anything. I actually noticed the opposite - when I used to see a female OB I thought she was always judging me, thinking my questions were silly. Like - shes been there, done that, and there is nothing to worrry about. I think with a male OB they tend to sympathize with your "fear of the unknown". I ALWAYS bring a list with me too - it makes it easier to remember everything I wanted to ask & makes me more comfortable. LOL - Its like its on my list, so I have to ask. Its not me asking, its the list. I know its silly, but it works for me.
