I saw that a few of you mentioned having Dr. Caravello as your OB/GYN at Lakeland OB-GYN.
It looks as if he has resigned from practicing in the area. Ledger article below http://www.theledger.com/article/20080704/NEWS/80704036...RMC_After__Incident_ ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

I heard tuesday morning that an incident had occured Monday night and that he was no longer employed there. I didn't believe it and called on tuesday to check on my appointment for next tuesday (I have been anxiously awaiting) and sure enough they said he was no longer with the practice. I was then called the next day to be made aware that he was gone and was told I would see the nurse practitioner and choose a new doctor for my next appointment. I was thinking about switching to a female doc anyway so I am not dissappointed. I just hope nothing really bad happened.

I was also with Caravello. I am now scheduled to see Moreno on the 23rd. Has anyone met her yet? I'm a little nervous to try someone new but since they rotate you and you never know who you will get at delivery I guess it will be fine.

If you want a female Dr, Dr Damian is amazing but I don't think she is taking new patients unless she has to with Dr. Caravello being gone, Dr. Nixon has always been friendly in the hallways and have always heard good things about her. I was shocked about Caravello especially the rumors that has been spreading on forums. I didn't have him as a Dr but I know of many who wouldn't want anyone else other than him for delivery or surgeries. I knew him and talked to him at work I wish him the best and hope he and his family get through this tough time.

This makes me so sad.
I only ever saw him as part of my regular rotation through the Lakeland OBGYN Doctors but he was very nice and very professional. He also advised me over the phone during what turned out to be preterm labor and he sent me straight to L&D. Dr Damian is amazing, she delivered my son and was my main doctor at this practice. Dr Nixon and Dr Alvarez are also very nice. Dr Puretz is fine, but not as easy to chat with or ask questions I felt, as the others. |

I kinda have to laugh at this only because I know how he was to work with. He was a caring doctor that is for sure. I'm very interested in knowing what the "incident" was- I could only image from the things that I heard when working in the Midwives side of the office.
Caravello delivered Bryson and was on call when I had Gavin- With Bryson he was awesome- but with Gavin he didn't want me to be induced early and was a major jerk- he came in said I'm against this induction and you just need to go home- Ha Ha home after being at LRMC for 18 days... I think not- Anyhow- Melissa- Mommy to four!! Felicity, Alayna, Bryson and Gavin |

Someone posted what the alleged incident was on the Ledger forum on the comments under the article, if you want to search for it & read it. I am really not sure if I should repeat... don't want to start rumors, especially if it isn't true.

I read the "Allegations" but don't really believe the whole story. I can see part of that being true from the things I heard when working at CFHC the midwives office that is connected to the LKLD OBGYN-
If you honestly think about it- they windows are tinted- if he was doing what they say he was at 6-11pm you would have to be standing way back by the road to see in the window on the 4th floor and their is no way to make a perfect id. If it is true it was more than likely a call for help. That job has to be stressful- I worked front desk and I know how stressful that was, they got it ten times worse in the back... Think about it as a mom we know what risks their are with being pregnant- They deliver over 300 babies a month and have to worry about them risk with every single one of their patients. Caravello would call patients after they had complications to be sure they were okay. But then with others he would be a jerk- just depended on the situation and what was going on. With Bryson after we told Caravello he was in the NICU he went down talked to them and made sure everything was okay- With Gavin he didn't want me to be induced at 36 weeks- but he told me all the risks after I told him I was not going home without that baby after being there for 18 days already.. It is sad- Melissa- Mommy to four!! Felicity, Alayna, Bryson and Gavin |

I have also heard allegations. I was told that he was viewed doing the "act" through an internal office window or door window. So many stories, only a few I am sure know the truth.
Ladies, if you haven't heard of the allegations you can scroll through the comments on the above Ledger link at the bottom of the article. It is discussed there. Considering the act in question; Do you all feel he should have left or possibly been forced to resign for this? Do you think the act fits the outcome of him not practicing here anymore? ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

I am not a Lakeland OB patient, have never even heard of this doctor until this thread so I have no personal 'stake' in any of this.
That being said, after reading through about half of the thread from the Ledger all I can say is that unless I missed something, no one can 'prove' or even say for sure that this Dr. even did anything. Supposedly (atleast from the thread I read) a crowd gathered outside the window and yet NO ONE called the police? Even if the nurses and admin were worried because he was the dept. head are you telling me that every average joe on the street that supposedly saw him was also concerned by his position? I have a hard time believing that. It's very easy for someone to say that someone else did something and the public is ready to convict them and ship them off before the first piece of evidence is ever produced or shown. If he did do this "act" then I do think it means that he has a problem (poor lack of judgment if nothing else) and should receive the necessary help before possibly continuing to practice medicine. I say possibly because to me a lot of it would depend on all of the factors and circumstances surrounding the incident and his mental state. That is IF he even did this. One thing that I wondered is, are there not security cameras from that lounge? |

That is definitely part of my question; with this act, if he thought he was alone, do you think this is something he should be in trouble for?
I am wondering if people think of this as a natural act or something that is not appropriate. And I wonder if men would see it differently than women? Maybe women wouldn’t feel comfortable with him after this? But men could see it as a man thing? I don’t know because I am definitely not a man,lol but I know what Eddy would say. He would say this was a major no-no and there is a time and a place. But then we could go back to the topic of this guy’s schedule and he may have thought he was audience free. He may have felt comfortable there as it was probably like a second home for him? Who knows? ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

DR. CARAVELLO IS A WONDERFUL DOCTOR, HE DELIVERED BOTH OF MY CHILDREN. I HAVE ALSO DONE BUSINESS WITH HIM ON SEVERAL OCCATIONS IN MY BUSINESS (NOT MEDICAL) I HAVE MET HIS FAMILY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH HIM, OVER THE PAST 13 YEARS. PERSONAL AND BUSINESS. I AM NOT UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING ANY DEALINGS WITH THIS MAN, ALTHOUGH HE KNOWS "EVERY" PART OF ME, BUT ON A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. IT DOES NOT EVEN EMBARRISS ME TO LOOK INTO THIS MANS EYES AND TALK ABOUT ANYTHING. I AM VERY SUPRISED, AND ALSO SHOCKED, STILL NOT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, IT DOES BOTHER ME. HE IS A GOOD MAN, AND I DO HOPE THEY ARE NOT DRAGGING HIM THROUGH THE MUD FOR AN ALLEGATION, OR ANYTHING MISCONTRUDE. IF HIS WIFE DOES READ POLK MOMS, I WISH HER THE BEST, HIS CHILDREN A BLIND EYE TO WHATS GOING ON, AND TO HIM KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, THERE ARE MANY PATIENTS OUT THERE THAT ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU.

Hey guys- I just talked to a friend of mine that works in the clinic and she said he was no standing in a chair was not nude- he was "playing" but didn't realize the ER window blinds were open. (he was in the physicians lounge) She said supposedly only 1 nurse seen him reported it and thats what happened. No crowd of people- he didn't open the window for all to see- he was just being a guy taking care of himself in a place he didn't think anyone would see him.
And if its the new blinds like they have in the new patient rooms- someone from the other side could have opened them... I believe this story more than I do him standing in a chair nude- Melissa- Mommy to four!! Felicity, Alayna, Bryson and Gavin |
