I ran across this article and it made me wonder if other moms were like me. When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I don't think I really fathomed "this is it, the last moments of able getting away". Once you have a baby getting away becomes a mission/ chore. You either have to plan for someone to keep you little ones or you have to pack a gob-zillion amenities for your little traveling sidekick(s).

Have any of you took or plan to take a prebirth trip as a last hurrah?

Article includes tips and ideas on that last chance getting away before baby.

This is an interesting question as I got quite a surprise from my husband yesterday. And it was HIS birthday... 5 years ago, before the birth of my first son, we planned a last hoorah. But there ended up being a crisis at work for him and we cut it down to a day trip to the beach and lunch. It was wonderful, but not really what I had in mind. Boy #1 one arrived, life moved fast (new house, new car, etc.) and then boy #2 arrived. (A different new house and car and a new job for me.) Now, I am 25 weeks pregnant with Kid #3. Yesterday, hubby said to me, "I know I promised this to you a LONG time ago, but I have asked my parents to come down for a weekend to take care of the 2 boys and you and I are going away." He proceeded to ask if I had a preference for beach or inland but other than that, he would plan everything. 2 WHOLE nights! Better yet, 2 WHOLE mornings that don't begin at 5:30/6am! Dinner without Ketchup, beach or pool w/o having to be on high alert, etc. I can't be more excited! So, mid June, I am getting my last hoorah!! (5 years later, but I think I can manage excitement and appreciation!) If anyone has suggestions within a 2-3 hour radius, please let me know!

Oh that is FANTASTIC Soon2B3! I know I'm jealous, and I'm sure other moms are too! Congrats to you! You deserve it! That's very thoughtful of your husband, too! Have a great time and be sure to tell us all about it! Smiler

WOW, Awesome, Enjoy it! Your comment about high alert at the pool caught me, you are so right! Images of parents lounging and relaxing at the pool is pure daydreaming when you have little ones.

I really hope that you can get that soon2b3. What do you like? I heard of this real swanky chic place that AJBrock on here has been. I will have to get her on here to post about it. She said it was cool/artsy if that is your speed.

I heard the Don Cesar is very romantic.

Tricia is right, let us know how it goes, and kudos to the grandparents for allowing all this to happen. I wish my kids had grandparents like that!

It was in downtown Sarasota and is called the Hotel Indigo. We went when I was pregant with my son. Very artsy, great spa style bathrooms. Also for romance I love the Bellview Biltmore in Clearwater. Its not on the beach but its on the water has a great spa, good food, and a nice pool. Also the history behind it is amazing.

I hope whatever you end up doing is enjoyable, relaxing, and everything you hope it will be. I've heard Anna Maria Island is a great getaway, my friends spent an anniversary there. Smiler

Have fun, and it sounds like you've got an amazing hubba~hubba. Smiler
