We have posted about Peditrician's I think that is super important! I have been talking to moms though and they tell me they are having a hard time finding a good OB. Please give us pros and cons and some of your experiences to help other moms.
I will put my vote in for Dr. Hopper at Watson Clinic on 540a. I would have a baby over and over with him. (Don't worry ladies I am out of the baby making business ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

I used the Gessler Clinic OB Doctors.
Dr. Jardine Dr. Pierre-Louis Dr. Ratleff Dr. Mancini Wasn't too crazy about Dr. Mancini-he doesn't have the greatest personality- but the rest of them were great! Dr. Jardine delivered Savannah- the only thing though she thought for sure at 5cm I wouldn't have Savannah for another 4 or 5 hours and I had her in the next 30 minutes!I went just that quickly! But then again-babies are unpredictable - she couldn't have known! |

Dr. Barrett at Watson Clinic (Main Clinic) was my OB also. I saw him for both my pregnancies. He was wonderful--very attentive, considerate, helpful, and a great bedside manner. Unfortunately, he did not deliver my first daughter. Dr. Mammel at Watson Clinic delivered her, he was good also. I liked Dr. Barrett better, though. He was able to deliver my second daughter! I haven't heard anything bad about the Watson Clinic OB's.

From my little bit of experience Dr. Garas at Watson Clinic, Lakeland Hills Blvd clinic is wonderful. I don't have any delivery experience as I am expecting my first, but he is my gyno and also has an infertility clinic which is what enabled my husband and I to even get pregnant. I was recommended to him after moving here, and would highly reccomend him to anyone looking for either a Gyno, OB or IF Treatments.

I would also recommend Dr. Hopper with Watson clinic on 540A. He is excellent. I moved back from out of state for him to deliver my baby.
Always remember to ask your doctor about Healthy Start it is an awesome program for moms. |

Ashley congratulations on your pregnancy! How excited you must be!
I don't think I ever met Dr. Garas. Thank you for your input and experience with what you went through and what Dr. Garas offers for other moms to consider. ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

My OB was Dr. Pamela Schwartz with Watson Clinic on 540A..... she is wonderful. She is so down to earth and personable... besides being a great doctor. She honored my wishes to have a VBAC when a lot of docs won't even attempt them. She, unfortunatley, wasn't on call when I delivered. Dr. Garas was the lucky one! lol I loved him... I would definitely recommend him as well.

My gyno doctor is Dr. Garas at watson clinic, he is who delivered my son. He is an awesome doctor, couldnot ask for someone more caring and highly knowledgeable than him. I would refer him to anyone, without thinking twice about it!

All the doctors at Lakeland OBGYN are great. My doctor was Dr Gracia Damian - she was wonderful, but I would have been just as happy with any of the other doctors delivering my baby.

I also use Lakeland OBGYN. My primary Doctor is DR. Caravello, he is very kind and always answers all my questions. I had a c-section by Dr. Nixon and one by Dr. Damien (Both Female if your interested). They were both awesome and so compassionate and caring I would recommend them to any one.

I'm currently seeing Dr. Barrett and he is very personable and does have a great bedside manner. I'm hoping that he will be able to deliver my baby too. I asked him about it several months ago, what were the chances that he would actually be the one to deliver the baby, and he said that the chances are pretty good but nothing is guaranteed.
If I have a critique about Dr. Barrett, it is that it is obvious that he is very knowledgable and experienced at what he does. However, I think he might forget that first time mom's are nervous about every little thing. Although he definitly takes the time to answer questions, he often scuttles through the worry, answering the questions but not really easing the anxiety. When calling up the clinic to talk to the nurses, they have been pretty good too. |

I am also seeing Dr. Barrett for my 2nd child. One thing not yet mentioned about Barrett is he also specializes in high risk, though obviously takes others. I love him. I understand previous post about being so knowledgeable that maybe first time moms might feel "unheard". I was loaded with questions my first go around and he asked with knowledge and care. Just 2 wks ago (with 2nd child) baby's heartbeat wasn't detected at 13 wks using doppler so an ultrasound was used. It took Dr. Barrett only about 5-7 minutes to get in and was so apologetic for taking so long thinking I was sitting in office worried to death about no heartbeat being found. So he really does have his patients' concerns in mind.

Lots of upcoming babies! Congratulations ladies on all these babies to be! Keep us updated....
Krystal I see that you posted about Gessler Clinic in WH. I tried them when I was first pregnant with Lillian. I used Dr. Mammal at Watson Clinic with Ryan. Although I like Dr. Mammal as a person, I had some issues that I will give more details on in future. So I tried Gessler - hated it. I miscarried between Ryan and Lilly when Ryan was 6 months old. It really saddened and shocked me. It made me pretty paranoid with Lillian. On the day I decided on Lillian's name, my husband and I went hiking through an old historic cemetery for genealogical research. I probably over exerted myself. When I got home I had some blood and a watery discharge coming out. I got scared and called the doctor and told them I was worried I could be miscarrying. I was leaking something liquidy and had some bleeding. I was worried it was amniotic fluid. With my insurance I only get billed for the first visit and have one copay and then all other visits have no copay if they are pregnancy related. At the appointment I told them my fears of losing Lillian. In the end the bleeding was unexplained and the discharge (I know yuck right-lol) was hormonally induced (it lasted for 2 weeks; I was told it could last the rest of the pregnancy, so was glad of only the 2 weeks). I got a bill in the mail from Gessler a couple of weeks later. I called and asked them why? I was told my visit was non baby related! The doctor made no notes in the chart about seeing me. The nurse only wrote in the chart that I was complaining of discharge not that I was worried I was miscarrying. So they billed it as non baby related. When I called the nurse and told her to remember my case, it was her I called to beg to work me in because I was so worried. I asked her why would I want to rush over for just discharge? She said she remembered how it went down but there was nothing they could do now because it had already been billed through insurance. I was going to be stuck with a copay. I felt like I was not listened to. My concerns and fears were not really heard. I was there because I thought I could be miscarrying and they recorded me being there for discharge After that I had no confidence in my care there. If the doctor could not take the time to record a diagnosis and if a nurse could not right down in my chart what happened and what my concerns were, I wasn’t in the right place. I was 6 months pregnant and I went to Dr. Hopper. ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |
