Here is other shout out for Dr. Langley and Dr. Hooper. Dr. Langley is my OB which I like a lot, but when I got pregnant my husband and I decided to go to Labor of Love, which we loved. The whole staff was great. Unfortunately, I went pass my due date and was sent to Dr. Barrett (he is the OB that Labor of Love uses). I saw him and he informed me that I need to go to the hospital right then. He thought there was something wrong with my son. He was honest and sincere. He also informed me that he would not be the one delivering my baby. Dr. Hooper was on the OB on duty. Which I was happy about, he delivered my nieces. Then I found out that his shift was over at 7pm and Dr. Mammal would be there for the weekend. I know there were no way I could have the baby by 7pm when I got to LRMC at 1:30 pm and zero dilated. Shawn I have to agree with you about Dr. Mammal. I personal did not care for him. What I did like was Dr. Barrett come the next day and checked on me and the baby. My vote is for Dr. Langley, Dr. Hopper, and Dr. Barrett. If you are thinking about using a midwife Labor of Love has my vote!

Wow Camille, it sounds like you went through masses of doctors. Thanks for sharing your varied views on what worked for you. I think it's very helpful information for other moms. How scary to go over your due date. I'm glad Dr. Barrett sent you to deliver. I was lucky on that end, I was a week early with my boys (vaginal), my water broke both times, and my c-section with Lillian was scheduled 2 weeks before my due date.

I was also looking for a good female obstetrician in Lakeland and since I saw Dr. Nixon recommended on this forum and she was covered by my insurance I decided to go with her. I am due for my annual exam at the end of June and my husband and I are trying to conceive. Well, I called today to make an appointment for the end of June/early July and was told that she was booked solid through August and her September calendar wasn't available yet. The receptionist then told me that there are two new female obstetricians coming to Lakeland OB/GYN in August. So without any information on this doctor, I made an appointment with Dr. Moreno on August 14th. I will let everyone know how that appointment goes...in 4 months!

I had a miscarriage in July of 06, and was a patient of Dr Swartz @ Watson Clinic, however the Dr on call was Dr Langley. He was SO kind to me during such a horrible time. I conceived again in Oct 06, and went to him through my entire pregnancy. He is an awesome doctor. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Barrett at the Watson Clinic was my OBGYN too, but Dr. Garas was on call and delivered Vegas. I loved them both! They were great and checked on me OFTEN while I was in the hospital. I'll never forget Dr. Barrett, who can forget a doctor who's middle name is Marvel.

I started using Dr. Langley (Watson Clinic 540A) a few months ago for GYN, and recently had my first OB appt. with him. So far, I really like him. He's very personable and great about sharing information with you.

Thankfully for me my mom has been a nurse in L&D for over 25yrs so I was able to get the inside scoop. I see Dr Garas and I think he is wonderful, I really enjoyed having him through my pregnancy and delivery I have been seeing him now for 5yrs. Dr Schwartz is good to Ive met her and seen her during a visit her and Dr Garas worked together in miami so they go hand and hand. as well as Dr Hopper and Langley there good too.

quote: Originally posted by brystalbrower16: Bond Clinic in WH has some great OB's. I saw Dr. Salamon for my 1st pregnancy and Dr. Gabriel delivered. I loved them both. I am seeing Dr Salamon now (I am due today) for our second baby. I have met Drs. Gatto and Kennan and really like them, too. If you want to deliver at the Regency, Bond and Gessler clinic OB's are the only ones to see!
I also went to Dr Solomon when I had my daughter (Now 2) and it seemed like every time I would ask her a question she approached me with an answer like HELLO IT'S COMMON SENSE or something! It was my first pregnancy and I may have had a lot of questions but never should someone make you feel stupid about it. Even my husband noticed at the time. BUT what topped it off was the actual labor and afterwards that was so awful!!! I was only in labor 3 hours from the time my water broke at work to the time I had my daughter so there was no time for an epidural. The anesthesiologist was there but was unable to do the procedure. She ASSUMED that because I the anesthesiologist was outside my door that I had an epidural. So after I had her she had to sew a few places up there and did it with NOOOOOOOO numbing medication at all, and I kept telling her that it was hurting me and she kept saying No it's not, you just feel pressure from it! So after she did that i guess the nurse told her that I didn't have an epidural and she said "You mean I just did this to this girl without anything??" and I was thinking DUH! Why else would I say it was hurting me!?!? And then the morning that I went home she came by one last time to check on me and let me remind you that my husband slept in the uncomfortable chair all night until about 30 minutes before she came in (at 6 in the morning!) and she was going over everything with me and at the end of the conversation she said "and also, this is not a hotel room, this is a hospital, and you should not be in that bed with her in this hospital." FOR ONE, I paid that hospital 100 times more than I would any hotel room and she was so rude and ugly about it and I just could not believe she said something like that. I went back to her at my 6 week checkup and wanted so badly to tell her how much I was offended by the whole entire ordeal (including the fact that she was so uneducated about my situation before taking a needle and thread to myself!) But I held my tongue because I would have probably been very ugly and she seems the type you would not want to approach. So I had a horrible experience with her and haven't went back to her for any yearly checkups or anything since then. I now go to Dr. Ratleff (I believe is how you spell it) at Gessler Clinic and she is AMAZING! I am not pregnant now but plan to be in the next year and a half or so and I am definitely using her. My best friend just had a baby as well and LOVED her!

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Garas. He was oncall during my first pregnancy which was an emergency c-section. He was awesome. I started seeing him thereafter and he delivered my second daughter last July. I've since moved to Highlands County but will still be going back to Dr. Garas.
