Most of the doctors at Lkld Ob are usually out 2-3 months. Sometimes longer- but they are all awesome.

I prefer the midwives at Labor Of Love Childbirth Services. They are licensed midwives that believe childbirth is a natural process not a medical condition. They help you realize your body is made perfect and it knows how to give birth. It is all natural chilbirth in the birth center or they will come to your home for the delivery. They take care of all the prenatal care, delivery and postpartum. If you want a medically altered birth stick with an OB but it you want a natural process birth check them out. You wait maybe ten minutes for your appointment if at all and they spend on average thrity minutes with you. You can call them directly 24 hours a day with ANY question. It is awesome. I had my second daughter with them and my first with an OB I wish I would of known about this the first time around. Thought I would share. ( did I mention you eat and drink in labor and move around as much as you want, I lived in the jacuzzi tub in labor).
Feel empowered hire a midwife! |

I agree Tripsi, there are some good Obs there, and I think at WH hospital too.
Homeschoolmommy ~ I had a friend who tried to deliver with labour of love, her second child too. However, complications at the end forced her to go by ambulance to the hospital. What always worries me with that, and just something moms probably should consider before choosing, is what if crucial time is lost because they do have to make a transfer like that? I know my friend was lucky, everything turned out okay in the end. But, I also know from personal experience, if that had been my situation, 2 out of 3 of my kids could've died. Time is often of the essence with newborn problems. And it's just something to consider, because women never really know from one birth to the next where a problem could crop up. Births are just like the babies themselves, very individual. You may think you know how it will go, but there are not ANY guarantees you do know for sure. Just my thoughts, I do know my friend said great things about the staff and services at Labour of Love, no complaints there. I figured I would update everyone since I just had my first appointment with Dr. Moreno and Lakeland Ob/Gyn. My appointment was for 3pm and I was told to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork (they send you a website to fill out most of your information a week before). When I checked in I was told she was running an hour behind. For most people this might make them angry, but I had already waited so long for the appointment one more hour wouldn't kill me. I was called back about 3:15pm so she must have made up the time. The appointment went very well (although I didn't quite have the gown on when she knocked and entered. I figured she was about to see me in the nude anyways so I skipped the embarrassment!) She was very thorough with the exam and very concerned that the first day of my last menstrual cycle was back in April and immediately ordered a blood test and ultrasound. She was very comforting in telling me not to worry or stress out that something is wrong, but she just wants to do a full work-up to make sure everything is a-okay. She was also quick to make follow-up appointments. There was a slight issue with her accent, I had to ask her to repeat herself twice, but that's not too bad. I had never been to Lakeland Ob/Gyn and I was surprised at how nice and relaxing the waiting area was. I am definitely glad I chose them!

I love the idea of natural birth, no drugs, doulas and midwives! A home birth would be so nice! Maybe even a water birth if it is safe! OK, so I probably would have asked for drugs towards the end. Maybe I'm just jealous because I didn't really have a choice but to have c-sections. I had conditions where I could not give birth naturally without the possibility of harming my children and myself (breech, placental abruption, and other conditions that can in rare cases be contagious and cause severe disabilities and death). I just feel that as a woman, I want to feel what all mothers have felt! I was so excited when I actually felt some contractions!

I posted about a month ago about my first OB appointment with Dr. Moreno right after she joined Lakeland OB/GYN. I was in for my 26 week appointment with her this week and I also had another successful visit. She was very calming. My weight and measurements were low so she was quick to order a sonorgam for that day while reassuring me that the heartbeat was strong and she was not worried. Again she included my daughters (ages 10 and 8) in the visit, asking them about baby names and other stuff. I am sad to start rotating to the other doctors. I'm still hoping for her to be on call when baby #4 joins us at Thanksgiving. I think I have a good chance since she just joined the practice. They probably make the new doctors work holidays.
If you are looking for a new OB/GYN Dr. Moreno would be a great doctor to meet. |
