I almost forgot. They will have everything you need for your new baby, but take your own diapers. I hated the diapers they had. They were not Newborn size and did not have the fold down area for the cord.

I delivered my son 3 months ago at LRMC. I had an AWESOME experience compared to my first child's birth at Regency. Every memeber of the staff we encountered was wonderful. The nurses were so attentive and didn't poo-poo my questions or concerns like my prior experience. The lactation consultants on staff were a great source of support. If you want to breastfeed, be sure to utilize them. Ask your nurse to have one come see you before you leave. I even went back to visit them a week after delivery due to some issues I was having and they were very helpful and welcoming. I might be the odd one here but I actually enjoyed the food. I pretty much ate salads and sandwiches though. The sandwiches were SO good. Oh, and the desserts. Yum!! Keep in mind that dad (or other support person) can order from the menu also for a small fee if he doesn't feel like leaving. Those what to pack lists can be intimidating. What I brought was my basic toiletries. I wore my own nursing pj's. I just felt better after I got up, showered and put on my own clothes each day. I brought my own pads just in case I didn't like those from the hospital but the ones they provided were just fine. I also brought my own pillow from home. That made a huge difference in my overall comfort, for some reason. Other than that be sure to bring your camera!! If you forget or need something you didn't think of your hubby or other family member can always bring it to you. Good luck!!

Congratulations on your birth Zoiezmom! Thank you again for giving us a detailed hospital stay.

Good advise on the bring your own pillow Smiler
and I was with you, I didn't like everything offered, but I thought LRMC food was decent if not pretty good at times, and I think I am picky, It's not Carrabas though-lol.

While I was there with Lillian, I asked for some tomato slices for her, she LOVES tomatoes. The kitchen brought her a huge bowl of diced tomatoes. It was so sweet and they are good a catering to your whims.

I had all 4 of mine at LRMC and it's changed a lot in the last year.
The one thing I always tell everyone to take with them is a bath towel. The LRMC towels that they give you are so small you can barely dry your hair with them.
I wore pj pants they are comfy and you don't feel like your not dressed for people to come visit.
They give you everything for the baby- formula, diapers, wipes, alcohol pads- they do not provide a pacifier. You can dress your baby in whatever you'd like or you can leave them in the hospital shirts.

I had both of my children at LRMC and had wonderful experiences both times. I may be a little biased because I have a close relative who works in L&D, so I think I was well taken care of in both departments. When I had my daughter, there had been several changes, from the new wing and rooms, to the menu. It was nice to get to order like room service, from a "full" menu rather than just two or three options. It was also nice to be able to order it at any time you were hungry, not just at "tray" times when food service comes around. Anyhow... I highly recommend LRMC for childbirth and will go back again if we ever decide to have another child.

I literality pack everything except the kitchen sink. I was planning to give birth at Labor of Love (the midwife birth center) and unfortunately I was sent to the hospital. Like everyone is saying bring comfortable pants and tank top, I brought a gown and felt a little exposed. Also bring snacks and anything that might make you feel better after delivering a baby. For me, it was taking a shower with my favorite toiletries, I brought my own pillow and that was one of the best things. All the nurses that I saw were great. My delivering was not a happy experience for me but the nurses did all they could for me to be comfortable.

I hope your delivering is everything you want it to be.

I did start this thread and it only seems right that I give my own experience now that I have had the baby.

Clothing choices...if you don't want to be in the hospital gowns bring something that you won't mind throwing away. I'm a big girl and the hospital gowns weren't comfortable. But there isn't any need to take A LOT of clothing. 1 or 2 articles is more than enough, besides your "wear home" clothes.

The food is pretty good but it is only for the mothers so keep in mind that if you have someone staying with you in the room, they have to eat as well.

One problem was the thermostat in the room, I couldn't find a temp that was not too hot, not too cold. Probably had some to do with hormones too, but just be prepared for that.

One word of advice...though it is nice to have people come and visit you, be aware that this will most likely get trying. Have someone be protective of your time in the hospital to make sure you have enough "you" time with and without the baby.

Though none of the nurses were horrible, there were some standout fantastic nurses. I want to thank Wendi, the nurse who was with me in the C-section recovery room, Jill, Shannon, and Angel who attended to me the 3 days I was in the hospital following my C-section.
