My Loving Son 7 months got his 1st tooth last week now has retroverted back to waking up every 2-3 hours at night I hate to let him cry so I give him a bottle and he goes back to sleep except for around 4-5 am he puts up a big fight I have tried watering down his formula, I have even let him cry for 20 - 30 mins and I am a cranky mommy and my patients is runing on empty I am praying it is only his teeth and then he will go back to sleeping 6-8 hours again. any suggestions please I need sleep.

Hi Mamachele,
When Savannah, now 16 mos was having trouble sleeping because of teething, we used "HurriCaine" Gel. It was recommended my someone in casual conversation and I am so glad that I followed up with their suggestion! I got it from my local Publix pharmacy and was told to use it only at night. So I did and it really helped! It smells and taste yummy. Yes, I did try it. You could probably get it at any pharmacy but I am a retired Publix Associate so therefore I support Publix! The gel is 20% Benzocaine oral anesthetic in a 1 oz. container. Check it out and get some sleep= Ann |

My now 11 month old went through this at the same age, we also thought it was teething at first but it turned out he was waking up due to hunger. I guess his appetite got bigger around this age. We started giving him rice cereal mixed with a jar of baby food, such as apples as his last meal before bedtime and it worked great. I like the beechnut nighttime rice cereal. He eats a light dinner with us around 6:30 at night then about 8:30 its the rice cereal and a bath followed by a bottle. He goes down and stays down until around 6:00 am. Yep I have an early riser, any of you moms out there ever want to do a breakfast playdate let me know. Sometimes he will still wake up in the middle of the night but we limit him to a few sips of water and back down he goes. Good luck. Lack of sleep makes me cranky also.

Do you think maybe it isn't so much the teething, but maybe he is getting his sleep patterns mixed up? When mine was a baby for a time she got her nights & days mixed up. After we fixed that, she would go down early but be wide awake at 3 & 4. I would keep her up earlier & thank goodness, she started waking up later.

Thank you for all of he advice that is why I love coming to his site, I will try giving him a feeding before bed instead of just a bottle, he never needed one before but I think he is starving. as for sleep patterns he only takes 2 naps a day anywhere from 30 mins to 1.5 hours but that is it he has never been a nappy baby always thinks he is going to miss something. at night he has to have a bottle or he screams bloody murder. thanks again Ladies

I have decided to get him up at 6am from now on and see if naps during the day get better, so far no go, we will see. other wise I may have to have him Cry it out at nite which I am completely dreading but I am waiting till his stuffy nose goes away from teething.
