Well that's not fair, I wasn't referring to adoptive parents. That would be one of those circumstances which wouldn't really allow you to breastfeed.
I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway. |

Well like I said, I am pretty sure the majority of BF moms are discreet. I have never personally seen one who got half naked in public to feed her baby. I think most women would agree that BF is a private thing (even if you have to do it in public) and wouldn't want to rip off their shirts to feed their babies. I know personally, when my daughter was only a couple of months old, we had a male friend come visit and I had forgotten to tell him that I was BF. I fed my daughter a few times while he was over and later when I talked to him he said he never noticed. And I still think that there are plenty of women and even teenagers who dress more provocatively and show more skin that most BF mothers do while nursing in public. |

And the woman in the video didn't seem to be showing a lot of skin to me.

I love that we have a topic that we can sink our teeth into!
In my original post when I attached this link, I said I was shocked, and I still am. No woman should be threatened with arrest in this situation. It was put to the extreme. A kind conversation would have sufficed. I am a true advocate of breastfeeding, I really am. I do think there is a society stigma that makes it a little harder for breastfeeding moms to feed in public. I know that Michelle mentioned that she had never seen or heard of negative reactions and was surprised and glad for her considering she breastfeed her boys. For me that is not the case. I have heard men, women and children cut and degrade women in separate instances for public breastfeeding. These moms were discreet but in public view. I thought it was sad. I really hope breastfeeding will catch on for potential nursing mothers to be and for society's acceptance of a natural act. ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ Breaking Lillian of the bink. Beautifully put, Shawn. Most BF moms realize that some people are uncomfortable with it, but we do it anyway. And I like to think that we are changes people's perception 1 boob at a time!

Hah! I love this quote too! It is sad that we do live in a society that sexualizes everything and has such hangups. I have/had friends from other countries and it is no big deal where they are from. I just find it funny that it seems okay to where low cut clothing but God forbid we are feeding our children with our breasts [what they were orginally intended for!]. I have no issue at all with anyone breastfeeding uncovered or covered. I do it at home, in public, wherever my baby needs fed. I don't apologize for it and I won't be responsible for other people's hangups. That is there own issue that needs to be worked out. As far as children asking and being curious. Why be embarrassed or upset about that? It's good to teach your child the proper way of things and why things happen. If they ask "What is she doing with her breasts?" Why not simply reply, that's how many babies get milk! Then again we are a family that is very open and honest about life and how things work. We also are big on teaching our children the proper names of body parts too which many people can be uncomfortable with too.
