I wish I would have found this link when I was pregnant and buying a carrier! I bought one that I liked okay, but now I think I would have preferred a sling.

If any of you moms have tips on which carriers and slings you recommend let us know.

Various slings and carriers and their ratings at this link below

I have to say we LOVED ours! I had a couple different kinds between the two boys and will say that to get a really good fit for comfort and ease of use, try many!! I just hunted up a few pictures of me "baby wearing" with both boys.

Should we all post albums of "baby wearing?"
I just posted an album of us.

Michelle, I am much to the same conclusion! Those days are gone for me it seems too Frowner

I love your sling pictures, I wish I would have done a sling. I do not have the first picture of me wearing a baby, but I do of hubby Big Grin - with a carrier

I will see if I can scrounge up a few pictures. He was all for wearing baby! He always told me since I carried them for 9 months, it may as well be his turn. Don't get me wrong, I thought this was sweet, but he was still minus the constant bathroom breaks, neausea, and tiredness-lol.

Plus, I think he liked all the attention he got when wearing a baby. I mean how sexy is that? A man wearing a baby. There was times I thought I would have to beat ladies off of him with a stick-lol

I didn't use a sling with my daughter (although hubby and I both used a carrier every now and then), but I plan on using one with this baby once he gets here.

It's neat to see all the different slings and how they can be worn!

I posted this to Shawn in my album, too, but thought I'd add it here too for my comments on how difficult I found the other carriers to be for us.

Thanks, Shawn! I wore the boys everyplace! My husband tried, but he's such a big guy that getting one that fit him comfortably was an issue, but the boys were always breastfeeding, too, so.......LOL Wink

I tried a carrier once - the kind that fits between the baby's legs and straps around your back - but our older son's legs turned purple so he was out faster than I could get him in! That thing took forever to figure out how to latch this and hook that. With a sling, all I had to do was put it over my shoulder and in the baby went. Very easy.

I bet the ladies all thought how sweet it was that daddy was wearing a baby! Nothing more attractive or romantic than a daddy who's involved!

littleT try different ones. They do all fit differently. I am amazed at how some mommies where their babies off their hip and cook. I tried and always felt he was about to fall out. The one we had with our first I couldn't use correctly until he was a few months old because the sling didn't fit quite right. I used it very early with our second - I had a different brand that fit better and he was large and capable of holding himself upright very early.

Thanks for the advice Michelle! Once he gets here I may have to beg you for help if I can't figure out how to get him situated right in the sling!

Are you kidding? NO beggin necessary! I stand ready to help!! Smiler The one sling company I bought from actually created a DVD to watch and learn from. I've heard great things about the Love Sling, Native Wraps, NoJo, and others listed in Shawn's link. I'll have to see what a friend of mine used. I can't recall, she had a few different ones, too. Anyway, neither babies nor breastfeeding ever stopped us from experiencing life and the sling was a great way of doing both. Again, just ask when you need to!!!

I love your picture on the homepage, Shawn! I was going to tell you if you didn't find yours and were going to put one on your homepage - what do you call that section of the homepage where the thread topics flip?? Confused - you could always use one of ours.

I have a sling and a carrier. We used the carrier in the beginning and my husband would love to wear it out. I have to agree with you Shawn, I think the guys like the attention. I saw so many ladies at the store just stop and aaahhh over a man wearing a baby.
These days I could not live without my sling. I use it everywhere I even breastfeed out and about with it and have no problems. Especially now since he is teething and he just wants to be close to me. It saves me since I have injured both of my arms so there are times holding him is hard for me.

I have a Maya wrap (ring sling) that I used with my daughter (now 3) and now my son (4 months). I can't say enough about how I love it! It takes a little getting used to getting it on right but I love that you can adjust it easily and reposition the baby or small child while still wearing it. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I got my daughter a matching doll sling so now we both wear our babies while we are out and about!

bryssy, I am so glad you mentioned the matching doll sling your daughter has - I meant to yesterday especially for littleT and greatfulcp for their daughters. We had one for our boys and they carried their stuffed toys around in it and one of our sons even wanted to use one of my collectable dolls - and I let him!

I'm loving my stretchy wrap, a small learning curve in getting it just right but wonderful to wear.

I love the doll sling idea for my daughter! She is very in to her babies and is such a good little 'mommy' that I know she would enjoy it! Any suggestions on where to find those?
