Wow! I found this article that discusses testing on shopping carts and the results show the carts dirtier than public toliets! Yuck!
I know that in my own experience, I have always thought carts were dirty, but not to this caliber. I keep in my car a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and a cart cover that covers the seat section of the cart. I spray the cart down generously before I put my wee ones in. Also I know that my local Publix has a sanitizing wipe dispenser at the entrance for cart wipe down use. Have any of you noticed other Publix's or other stores that do this in our area? What other ways do you use to sanitize your cart or do you even bother?
To read more about the article and get more details on what exactly they found on these tested carts I am adding the link.

Hi all
I have been usng a flopsy seat cover since my son could sit in a cart, also Kmart offers wipes at the Door by the carts also. I understand that we have to build up their immunity but not that bad.

Hi Michele, I am glad that you brought up the immunity angle. I have gotten a hard time from people with using the alcohol spray esp. from hubby when we're in a hurry. I still like to take the time to at least try to eliminate some germs around my kiddos, but I do realize they are going to touch other things with germs on them. What do you other moms think? Should moms not try to shelter your child from germs to build their immunity?
