Ok - I don't know if this is the beginning of the terrible 2s or what exactly but my sweet 22mo old baby boy is GONE. He vanished sometime between my taking vacation last week to me going back to work on Tuesday. It's actually insane! Austin is (was, I don't know what term to use here) a sweet, lovable, sharing kind of kid. Very laid back, sharing with any and all and has a laugh that could melt the heart. Every night I've been coming home to a little hellion...He snatches toys away from his 9 mo old sister telling her no, pitching screaming fits when he doesn't get what he wants, and "raises his hand to hit" when something doesn't go his way. He hasn't hit his sister, but when I've put him in time-out, he comes and hits me on my leg.

My husband took him to GymEtc for Playgroup and he raised his hand to two other toddlers that took "his" hula hoop and ball. We've emphasized about sharing, never hit, spanked or raised a hand to him. My father and his gf watch him while we work. Where is this coming from? Could me being away from him during the day have provoked this? Is my sweet baby gone forever?

HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!!

Welcome to the terrible twos!

Kidding aside, it could be what you are saying; the transition of not having you all the time could be making him act out. They know even at that age. And it could be partly to the terrible 2 stage. It’s triggered from an age where they feel they need to test the waters of independence and what they can get away with.

If your little one has had sweet tendencies in past, I am sure that little man is still in there. I know it is hard to wait it out, but what else can you do? I know you already know and do this, but just give him lots of love, hugs, and kisses.

I hope that it gets better for you soon!
