Need suggestions for preventing and soothing diper rash.

Gloria, glad to see you back, I haven't seen you online in a while.

I am a firm believer in baby powder. It is a great rash preventative. Not everyone uses it but none of my kids have had diaper rash except a couple of times each because of a diarrhea virus maybe giving them a raw bottom. I apply powder at every diaper change.

I like to use pure cornstarch types. Regular baby powder is a waste of my time. My favorite baby powder is Target brand pure cornstarch.

Be careful when applying not to let it cloud too much and let babies breath it in.

I don't have much advice in diaper rash, b/c again I have been really lucky not to have it. I know that my sister's children have had fungal diapers rashes and had to have yeast infection ointments to clear up her wee ones.

For the times I have had some issues, I think Desitin was more protective of the skin than the balmex. It’s a pain to wipe away, but that means it’s working. It gives a great barrier/ liquid repellent to give the skin a chance to heal.

I also am a baby powder user My son does not get rashes because I try and use baby powder at ever change but lately It is getting harder and harder to change him the wiggle worm that he is so I don't always get it in there but I make sure to use it at night. I have Boudreuxs butt paste if I need it.

I use Burt's Bees diaper rash cream.....LOVE IT. It has a somewhat strong lavendar scent but if Brooke is red I just put it on before bed and its gone by morning. It's great stuff. I also love the fact that it's like 99% natural.

my daughter gets diaper rashes really bad. when i notice her starting to get red i also use baby powder with cornstarch. it's the only thing that works for us also. i do not use it everytime i change her just because i don't want her to breath it in. i'm glad to hear that i'm not the only one to use this. i now most dr's tell you not to use baby powder. but it really does work.

Oh yeah...and I've heard oatmeal baths help too.
