I'm looking for things to do with my toddler. She's 2 1/2. and i just don't know what's out there other than the tampa aquarium and the lowery park zoo. Does anyone have any suggestions. The cheaper the better. But i would love to hear of anything around. Thank you

Courtney, have you looked at the events calendar here on polkmoms? It’s at the events tab on the right side of the page.

I have been posting my little fingers off putting in information. SmilerI hope that you and other moms can find something in there you will like.

I know I will be hitting library story times more often outside of Bartow. This is a great time for my wee ones. It doesn’t last to long and their attention span isn’t over done. Plus it gives them interaction and socialization with other wee ones, and it is free!

I just typed a search in the events tab. I typed in “children” (as my tag word) within 50 miles of Lakeland

I got back 647 hits of things to do in the next couple of months in and around Polk.

I think this is one of the greatest assets to PolkMoms is this calendar. Moms you can put in events that you know of into the calendar or I will be happy to input it for you. You can email me information at:

thanks for all the replys i didn't realize the ymca had dance classes and stuff. and i didn't know about gymtek or the family fun center. i think my daughter would like those. i have been to gatorland and brooke loved it. i have also been to mosi but i thought that was too old for her. and we always go to the bartow book babies. i look forward to that every week. we are also season pass holders at the tampa aquarium. we go there a lot i just wish gas was less. it hard finding things to do on a limited budget. i would also love to hear more suggestions. thanks

greatfulcup, Have you considered going berry picking with your daughter? In Dover, beyond Valrico not quite to Brandon, you can stop and pick strawberries. There is another place for blueberry picking, too. Maybe Shawn would want to get a group together and do a "Family Berry Picking" venture???? I know she's busy, maybe someone else?

i didn't know there were places to pick blueberry and strawberrys in fl. now that i think about it there is a hydroponic farm in homeland that i have been to a couple times but they mostley have strawberrys. and he really didn't want kids picking them the plants are more delicate. i grew up with an uncle who farms so i have been picking my own fruits and veggies since i was a toddler but that was in new york. i miss picking cherries and blackberrys.
thanks american. if anyone wants to do this i'm game!!!

I am game to be hostess or to plan an event. American I think this is a great idea and right up my alley. I love anything to do with the outdoors and gardening.

Will strawberries be going out of season soon? If so, we would really need to be on top of that one.

My son is 2 1/2. Winter Haven and Auburndale Public Libraries have story timr once a week, different days. Cypress Gardens annual pass. The water park is now open on weekends and will open everyday in May. They have a great toddler area. In Auburndale there is a small Lake, Lake Stella, with ducks to feed, also little fish and turtles come feed on the bread also. I also take him to the pet store on Havendale (Pet Harbor) We look at the puppies and talk about the different fish and birds. The Auburndale Park will soon reopen with over $350,000 woth of new equipment, half of the park playgyms are for toddlers 2-5 yrs old. I hope this gives you some more ideas that might work for your family.
