My 22 month old just climbed out of the crib, twice!! Is it time to move him out of the crib? I'm afraid if I move him to a toddler bed he will not stay in it. Any suggestions?

i say try the toddler bed and if theres room for both his crib and bed leave them both in there for a while. i don't know if u watch super nanny but she has really good bed time advice for kids who don't stay in bed. the first time they get up explain to them why they have to be in bed. and after that just keep putting them back in bed without saying any thing.
i was having this same problem, climbing out of the crib with my daughter. but we decided to have the toddler bed and crib set up in her room. the first night she refused to sleep in the bed. she cryed for an hour before we finally put her in her crib. and the next night it was the same thing. she didn't get out of bed she would just sit in it crying. finally after a week we moved the bed so it was in the same position as the crib was and had the crib at the end of the bed so she still felt like she was in the crib even though she was actually in the bed. and that worked. she slept in the bed all night. she has suprized us she only gets out of the bed after her naps. and she never gets up at night. and after a week i took the crib down. yeah!!!

I think every baby is different. My daughter is 22 months old and I think she likes the security feeling her crib evokes.

Ryan thought it was jail-lol. He was climbing out of his bed at 16 months old and we felt like we had to move him into a toddler bed.
For him we had to rock him to sleep everynight and then hope he would sleep through the night, which he didnt do that until he was over 2 years old.

If you think he is ready, then maybe you should unless you think you can catch him in the act everytime you think he is climbing out.

good luck and let us know how it turns out.

We also just went through this this week. My 2 year old climbed out back in October, she was 21 mos then. It scared her so she didn't try it anymore but we knew it was time to switch her. I did not waste our money on a "toddler bed", we bought a single mattress set. She had been sleeping on it for 3 nights now and loves it. Her crib will be moved out today. I put the gate up on her door and she knows it's bedtime. She loves the idea of getting up and getting a book or stuffed animal and getting back into her baed. I feel at peace knowing she can't leave the room and wonder the house too.
I read alot of good tings in the book called "toddler 411", I got it at B. Dalton books. They also have "Baby 411". Best of luck.

I'm having issues with my son. He's only 14 months old though and not ready for a toddler bed. He has started pulling himself up to the railing and using his feet to climb up the rail & wall. I was considering of getting one of those tent type things. But they aren't cheap. And I don't want to waste the money if he's going to be able to pull it off or tear it up or anything.
Anyone use one of these? Or have any advice for me? THANKS!

I bought my daughter a Crib Tent, they sell them at Baby stores and online. She was climbing out at 22 months also.
