My aunt bought me 2 plastic see through bibs that has animals on the inside between layers that I love. Everything would repel off it. With regular bibs, my children's bib then shirt would get soaked through with drool or food/drink. I love these plastic bibs, and I have no idea where my aunt got them. I used these 2 over and over with Lillian.

i used to use cloth diapers for burping cloths. they worked great they are nice and thick.
also a good thing to use to get staines esp spit up stains is totally toddler. you spray it on then wash and most of my staines came out. i thought walmart sold it but when i went today to get more they were out. but i pretty sure toys r us sells it.

I haven't personally used totally toddler but I have heard good things about it. I know they sell it at Burlington Coat Factory in the Baby Depot, and I think I saw it at Toys R Us also.

For the boys we have used hand towels or wash clothes. You can usually get a big pack of wash clothes for $2.50 from walmart. The hand towels we found when they were on clearance- but they work great for us.

I also use the cloth diapers they ones that have two seams in them. As far as bibs, it is very hard to find the bibs with a plastic/vinyl backing and it seems the only place I have found those is at Target.

For bibs I just starting using Bumkins bibs. They are plastic and I just have to rinse them off after feeding. Wish I had found them earlier as my baby always was a spitter.
For burp cloths I have always used the Gerber flannel burp cloths which have always been OK for me. My daughter has been a spitter since birth.

Cloth diapers are the best! I really prefer the prefolded ones...they are thicker. Any will work, though. And they last forever...make great rags when your kids are done with them!

When we were at this stage, we used the cloth diapers, too, although not the pre-folded ones. But I can see how they would be preferred - thicker, although not as long/wide.

Our boys' heads were always tooooo big for anything over the head that didn't have snaps to open (we preferred the snaps to buttons - choking - and velcro - caught in their hair), but I did manage to find a couple of cloth pull over bibs that worked very well. I believe they were from Toys 'R Us and some from Wal Mart. They stretched far enough to fit over their heads and were thick enough not to get themselves wet.

I think we still have some around. One of my mistakes was bleaching them. With their sensitivities and allergies, I never should have. Besides, looking back and realizing now having bleach (and bleach smell) that close to their little faces. Not my only mistake, but what can you do.

I have seen the plastic ones with pockets in front, too, to keep falling food off the clothing/child.

You could try to find some neat cotton (maybe prewashed?) fabric you could make bibs and burp cloths from, if you are handy with a sewing machine??? Smiler
