I'm going in for my 4 week check up and wondering if they give you a pelvic exam after a c section and if yes, why?

At my 6 week check up I am pretty sure they did...they did a pap I think and it served as my "annual appt".
I hope your c-section recovery is going well!

I don't remember whether or not they did with my first one but I don't think they did. I just went two weeks ago after my second section and all she did was look at my incision and ask questions about how I was feeling. I told the receptionist on the way out that I love when its a "pants on" visit and she thought that was pretty funny. By the way that is one beautiful baby!

If you are due for a pap they will go ahead and do it then but I am not due for one till sept so maybe that has something to do with it.

Andrew's mom, I to have been eyeing your avatar! Very adorable!

I only had the c-section with Lillian and there was no vaginal exam afterward.

Like Katie said, my incision was checked and a tummy massage to see how much my uterus had shrunk.

After all my post pregnancy bleeding had stopped I did have a pap then and it was my annual.
Good luck at your visit Smiler

I'll be going in 4 weeks for my postpartum visit and as far as I know it does include a pap. I think it is a better safe than sorry because even though it wasn't a vaginal birth, it does give the doctors a chance to see if your body is healing itself ok. Don't forget, they also will be discussing birth control at the appointment so figure out what you want to do there, as well.
