So those are the 5 most common words heard in my house every morning. "No, leave your diaper on!" I wake my son up to get him out of his crib for a change and some breakfast, and he's naked from the waist down and soaking wet. I have 2 sets of crib sheets and 2 mattress covers, and that's always been PLENTY but I wash them all daily now.

Any ideas to help my son's bum stay covered and his bed and clothing dry at night and during naps? I'm losing my mind here. Mad

how old is your son?
my daughter started taking her diaper off and we decided it was time to potty train. she will be 3 in a couple months.
if he is too young to potty train i really don't know what to do.

My youngest son used to take off his diaper at night time if we did not have shorts over the diaper. If we would cover the diaper with a pair of shorts or pants, he would not take it off. Just a thought.

I HAD THE SAME TROUBLE, UNFORTUNATLEY IT WENT FROM AT NIGHT TIME TO ALL THE TIME, WE CALL HIM "THE STREAKER" BECAUSE EVERYTIME YOU TURN AROUND HE COULD BE NAKED AT THE DROP OF A HAT. I THINK ITS A BOY THING, MY GIRLS NEVER DID THIS. WE DID TRY THE ONSIES AT NIGHT TIME. HE HATED THEM, BUT IT KEPT THE DIAPER ON!!!! THEY MAKE THESE ALL THE WAY TO THE TODDLER SIZES.

He just turned 2. The diaper comes off no matter what he is wearing over it. He takes his shorts off if he's in shorts or PJ shorts. If he's in a onesie he actually gets his diaper off without unsnapping the outfit. He's appeared to be fully covered, but I picked him up twice now with onesie still fastened but diaper missing underneath. Once, he even squirmed his shoulders out of the neck of a onesie and had the collar of it around his waist, with his diaper removed. Sometimes he takes his diaper off during the day, but not often.
How true - my girls were never this determined to have their bums bared. But this child is determined he's gonna be half naked.

Look into pant one piece pajamas! The snap style are best, but if you can't find them - they are difficult to locate - try the zippered ones. You can even alter the neckline and put them on BACKWARD.

click here to view the style I am talking about

With the long pants and sleeves, it will definitely make it challenging for him to get them off or the diaper since he won't be able to get the leg up enough to get at the diaper. Good luck!

My son did the same thing.....we were told to use the pj's that snapped together (the shirt snaps into the pants.

That worked for him. Although I am not sure if it will for your son. Sorry!

That is pure genius! I know what I'll be buying on Friday. I'm sure at some point I used the same idea, because I thought "WOW Why didn't I think of that??" but I didn't even think of it for this problem.

We had our first dry morning in forEVER (ok, fine.. days). I couldn't run out and buy a sleeper but I did find some duct tape in my utility room. I put one strip of tape wide enough to go across the front and cover both tabs. I could tell he wrestled with it, but it was still on and his bed was dry.

That is so funny, duct tape!!!!!
I wouldn't have suggested it, but a friend of mine actually did use it for her daughter that stripped constantly, and it actually worked for her. You go momma, its funny the things we have to come up with just to keep clothes on our kids.

i was going to mention duct tape but i erased it because i didn't want people to say anything bad about it. duct tape was the first thing that came to my mind after reading about your dilema.

You ladies crack me up! Big Grin I actually thought of the tape, too, but didn't think I should suggest it - even for short term! lol Did you tape around a onesie, too, to make sure the tape wasn't against his skin? Some react to tape, just a thought if you do it until you get the long pjs.

Now, I'm trying to "see" this situation and I bet his little brain was working over time - just trying to figure out what you'd done! lol Did he sleep longer or better? I'd think trying to mentally and physically undo what you did would wear him out. I'm surprised you didn't see a bunch of white pieces all over and the tape still around him! lol

My friends old baby sitter would put the diapers on backwards with the tabs in the back so they wouldn't pull at the front to get them off. It might work until they figure it out.
