Update -Ladies, I have lost a total of 11 pounds. It will probably be half that after tonight. I am going to my grandmother's house for fried grouper, YUM-MY!
I hope that I'll be slightly good I think the last 5 or 6 pounds has been b/c I am jogging 2 miles almost every night and I have cut back my eating portions. I plan on getting rid of the extra that I have gained since Christmas, we will see. Wish me luck , I need it, I LOVE food! ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

I haven't read all the responses so forgive me if I'm repeating what has already been said - I thoroughly recommend Weight Watchers. I've only used it once - just before our wedding to trim up a little bit more. I was absolutely inspired by the people in my meetings - men and women who'd lost lots of weight.
My mother has also successfully used WW in the past - she's tried other programs - but always ends up coming back to WW. I know it's obvious - but exercise is really key to helping you lose weight - steadily and healthily. I am not dieting right now - but I am doing a 30 minute program every other morning on the treadmill - and I've lost 4 lbs in 10 days (if I could just kick the chocolate and the snacks it'd be more lol!). Exercise has such a positive effect on your mood too - this is my primary reason for doing it right now as I am dealing with some post weaning funk after 4 solid years of being either pregnant, or breastfeeding a child |

Shawn, good for you! Thank you everyone for making your suggestions! I think you are going about this the right way, Shawn, portion control, just don't ban every little treat you enjoy either though, and exercise. 2 miles almost every night??!! Are you planning a marathon we don't know about? I have jogged my neighborhood from time to time, but running/jogging - not my thing. If I was in trouble and could still run away, I would probably try to talk my way out of it before I'd run. jk/lol!
I don't know if anyone has discussed any work out programs or not yet, something to do at home when the time suits you rather than trying to get someplace, although there is something to that too and I do like to do group workouts. My husband's schedule sometimes doesn't afford me the ability, so having something at home is great. I have the ball, the mat, the bands, the weights - even the wrist and ankle weights - I have the Tae Bo, all 3 videos and Pilates (never used them if twice each!) I occasionally catch a show on Bravo called, Work Out with Jackie Warner who owns her own gym and spa in Beverly Hills, CA. She has a workout DVD I just bought yesterday called, Work Out. It is broken down into 3 work out rountines so you can individualize the workout: Upper Body, Lower Body, and Core - each one is 20 minutes. Now, I have done hour and hour 15m workouts at the Y and after her 20 minute workout, I was done enough. I did get onto channel 114 and do the Shimmy program (actually, 2 of them back to back) and some of a Yoga one after those, too, last night. I am a bit sore, but know it'll work itself out soon enough. Afterall, I have my 20 year reunion this summer! Uhhhgggggg I bought the Work Out DVD at Best Buy for $9.99. What a deal! It is fast paced, but she is very clear about what to do. Anyone else have some at home workout ideas? I was also thinking of getting a kick boxing bag and medicine ball for our workouts. I LOVE that stuff! Just don't always love doing it. lol Michelle "I try!" |

OOOOh, Albee, I just read your post. I so agree with exercise and attitude! Maybe it's getting older, but I have noticed a big difference in my attitude when not doing something active! And, I breastfed and was pregnant (sometimes at the same time) for just near 5 years total. Don't forget, you need your snacks, too. You sound like you're doing a super job! Michelle VEGASMOM Our boys LOVED the Wiggles! There is one specific song they would be get rocking to. It was soooo cute. We made copies for friends and they all said the same thing. I think the title of that CD was just The Wiggles. It's been a long time since they listened to that, but occasionally, I still hear it from their rooms. We were just jamming to a new CD I bought by Duffy. Very nice and intersting tone to her voice and music. Anyway, yes, children's music offers a variety of beat options for a great workout! Add baby/child and you have strength training and endurance training! lol Michelle "I try!" |
