Hi, moms!

I've noticed a few things that are interesting. There seem to be a lot of Michelles, and a few Rachels, on here and several Savannahs and Lillians, too.

Any other "groups" of members?

I was wondering where all the parents of children, boys, from 5-8 or even 9 years are?

I see LOTS of mommies of girls and wee-ones, but a few of boys and those in the elementary age.

Then again, I haven't read through all the pages of intros either.

What other interesting commonalities (there is a "group" of very interesting names, too) have you seen in Polkmoms? Other than the obvious being moms? Razzer

Another thing I noticed, is it seems the majority (that post anyway) are all moms to little ones.

Smiler I have to wonder if there was a surge of interest in the name Michelle 36-38 years ago, but I do love my name - which is what struck me seeing Michelle after Michele! It's neat, though, we'll have to say more when we meet than just "Hi, I'm Michelle" lol Wink

Rella, you picked up on something, maybe those with little ones are trying to now get out and about more from being consumed with their little ones' needs that they're seeking ways to do that, here. I think PMs is a great idea for moms of all age children and ages themselves! Way I look at it is, if we can make it to meet we do, if not, there will be another meet up at some point, right.

Thanks for sharing, everyone, how you fit the interesting bits and what wonders you see. lol Smiler Let's see what else we find........

Michelle M. That is so cool your b/f is on the site! I try to get mine on here, and she does here and there, but not as much as I want her to be. I have another close friend that comes on every great once in awhile, I guess they know me enough to think they don't need to see the things I pull from the web and talk about on here-lol.

Pete-N-Repeat Michelle, I have noticed lots of Michelles and Melissa's too. I think you are right. In the time frame you mentioned those were popular names. I was trying not to do that with my Lillian and low and behold Katie (lilliesmom) has a Lillian too. While my Lilly was in the hospital for the seizure episode a nurse there said she had a baby named Lillian and came up with the name after seeing another baby named Lillian born at LRMC. So funny!

Hi, Shawn, come to think of it, I have noticed some Melissas too. I have been called that name, too. I used to manage a shoe department and worked with a Melissa. We resembled one another very much and even had similar hair styles at the same time with very curly hair. When one of us would go get some shoes and come back out, our respective customers would ask for their shoes. We wouldn't know what they were talking about until the other of us would come back onto the floor. We had some good laughs and thankfully, good natured customers, too. Smiler

I guess names go in cycles.

Shawn, your friends may know you, but they don't know us.......so, we may have different things to "talk" about. I find what you post very interesting, too. (Side note----How is Lilly doing since the seizure???)

Still so few moms with boys around here!! lol

Well, good night.

Michelle, you are right, what you ladies say get me going in my day. I love the input all of you add to this site! I will have to get onto my friends more. I don't think they realize the site is more active than when it first started. I love that.

Knock on wood, Lillian has had no seizure activity since the one and only time. If it is only one time, it would be plenty enough for me! She has a sleep deprived EEG scan on June 6th at LRMC. I have to keep her awake until midnight the night before, wake her at 4am and then keep her awake until her test begins at 7am. Sounds like fun, huh?-lol!

Shawn, I am so glad for you and Eddy with Lillian! What a blessing!

I think being moms is enough of a link for us all, but it has been fun to read what others have thought of that I haven't.

I also remembered a few of us educating at home (can't recall but I know one was in Bartow) and some being teachers too (one was in the CoE currently).

And Shawn you and I have curly hair, although mine seems far more unruly than yours! And yours is thicker and longer and redder and prettier and just kidding, no more "and"s I think your hair is gorgeous! What hair products do you use?

Someone was asking about boys...well I have 2! They are 7 year old twins, Antonio & Alex.

Shawn,
You mentioned your little one had a seizure? My boys have been having them since they were 10 months old. We have decided to educate them at home because of this. Thankfully, they've been seizure free since December 8th (Alex) and January 22 (Antonio).

I have gone through literally hundreds between both boys and honestly, each time is just as scary as the first.

By the way, how many home educators are there on here?

Hi, Jasmine!
I am sorry to hear of these seizures your twins have gone through. In my reading here I thought they generallly went away about the age of 5 years??? Evidentally, not so??? I am so sorry! God gave them to you because He knew that you could handle their needs, including home education.

We have two boys 7 and 4.5. We also home educate! Smiler I have seen at least 2, maybe 3 others here around here. I'm glad to have "met" you! Smiler

As far as the seizures, yes they did tell us that they would eventually outgrow them. First they said at 3. Then they said 5. Well, they are 7 now. We're praying that this is it. Its been a few months now and we are thankful for that...I always laugh b/c although I know that God gave them to me because he knew that I could handle them...and homeschooling...I think he thinks awfully high of me!!! Wink

Jasmine..

My youngest was 23 hours old when she had her first seizure. She has had 100's of them. Two of them put her on life-support and she was airlifted to St. Joe's. What kind of seizures do your boys have? Molly had neurosurgey in Dec. 06 and she has been seizure free since. If you would like info, let me know. We went to Miami Children's Hospital for surgery. They are one of the top hospitals for this kind of surgery. Good luck, and you and your family are in our prayers. This goes for all the moms on this site. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Michelle, you are soooooo sweet, my hair is not that great, and it drives me nuts!

I know that you can contest to this Michelle, people with straight hair do not know how good they have it!

If you have straight hair you can make it curly. Us girls with curly hair are almost stuck with it, yes I know we can use a straight iron on it, 2 hours later(what mom has that kind of time Smiler) and as soon as you wash it, you are all curls all over again.

Ladies with straight hair can brush and go. Me, I have an anti freeze routine.

I don't want to sound like I am complaining. I do like my hair now, but it took me years, my whole life to make a truce with it.

I swear by Pantene conditioner. I panic when I am out of it or somewhere with out it. It is the only thing I have used that seems to work on my unruly locks.

Jasmine, I hate to hear about your boys and their seizures. The thought of going through it again and just not knowing when and where, makes my stomach hurt. I know that you have to feel the same way.

Jasmine and Michelle, do you know, or has it been figured out what causes the seizures? Are they only fever induced (febrile) or are the epileptic, unknown?

One of the reasons I am doing the EEG is to learn more to figure the cause of Lillian's seizure. I hope it is just febrile and not oncoming epilepsy. I lean more toward febrile seizures considering hubby's past affliction to them. I had a friend that was epileptic and died in a car accident when he crashed while having a seizure. He was a great guy.....

Definitely something I want our little ones to outgrow before driving
