Hi, ladies! My husband, 2-year old daughter and I just moved to the area from North Florida. I grew up in Hillsborough county, my folks are still there...hubby's are in and around Orlando, so we split the difference! I'm a SAHM. In the fall I will be taking classes at USF to get my Masters Degree in Elementary Ed through the MAT program. All the classes are in the evenings, which is great for me and my family. We live in Imperial Lakes, and both Hayley and I are starting to crave getting out and meeting people. I've been home with her since she came home, and we lived in the boonies on nearly 10 acres before, so social interaction was not an every day thing, lol. Would love to make some friends for both of us! You can always e-mail me at tazpooh73@aol.com. It's nice to be back in Central Florida...but I will miss the weather terribly!! Wink Angie

Welcome mom2hayley! I have a Hayley (spelled the same way) as well! Mine is 7, but I also have a daughter Savannah (she will be 3 on Sunday). Just an FYI, I've noticed several other Hayley's, but they're spelled differently (there are several Savannah's too! Smiler

I just read a post that Shawn is planning another meet up, so be sure to catch that. There are several playgroups in the area (I think there is a post on her somewhere about those). I live in north Lakeland, but my church (Highland Park Nazarene) is in south Lakeland and they have a playgroup on Thursday mornings at 10am in the Family Worship building across from the church. We meet in the toddler room, the kids play with toys and the moms get to talk. I know of another playgroup, www.polkplaygroup.com. They meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at different places. There are other playgroups, too but I'm not familiar with them. I've been trying to get out more with my youngest, too because most of my friends are working moms, not SAHM like me! Look forward to meeting you (and others) sometime!

Hi Angie, welcome to Polk County and PolkMoms. I caught your adoption story before I caught your introduction. Thank you for sharing both with us. pennington7777 (Tricia) mentioned a get together soon. We are working out the details here
http://talk.polkmoms.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2861009296/...171083127#8171083127
Please check in on the status of this get together and even give feedback on what you might like to do. I hope to see you there.

Welcome Angie. You will love this web site! I do! I would also like to invite you this fall to join MomTime. It is a MOPS program at my church for moms of preschoolers. You don't have to be a member of my church to join, it is just a great place for fellowship with other ladies. I attend the night MOPS and love it. There is also FREE childcare during the program!! That is always nice! Let me know if you are interested. We just had our last class last night and we don't meet back up until the fall.

I may have forgot to mention this, but they have a day and night MOPS. You can attend the one that works with your schedule.

WOW! Thanks so much for the warm welcome!

Tricia, you don't find Hayley spelled that way too often. I joke that I've sentenced my daughter to a life of correcting the spelling of her name. I am fairly familiar with northwest Lakeland, as I had a friend who lived there. Thanks so much for the playgroup info. I'll be sure to check them out. Do you ever go to either of them? Maybe we will become SAHM buddies and get together soon.

Shawn, I'll be sure to put my two cents in about the get together. Sorry that my posts were backwards-ish, altho it really doesn't matter!

Michelle, I worked at a church in Tallahassee (pre-Hayley) where there was a MOPS program. It is great that they have one in the daytime and the evening as well. I will probably be a daytime attendee, as I will have evening classes beginning in the fall.

Hi Angie, glad you found this site. I just joined a MOPS program that will be starting in August. I live in Bartow which is about 12 miles from Imperial Lakes. Maybe we can get together some time.

Angie (mom2hayley), I've thought the same thing about how often my daughter will be correcting the spelling of her name. That particulary spelling is rare, but I always loved it. As a kid, I loved watching old Disney movies, especially the ones with Hayley Mills. Plus, I had a Cabbage Patch Doll named Hayley (not sure how it was spelled, though). I always wanted to name my daughter Hayley. Last year in kindergarten, she had a girl in her class named Haley. It's becoming more common.

I've been going to the playgroup at my church since it started a couple months ago. However, I just found out yesterday that we will probably take a break over summer since most have school-age children in addition to little. Older kids will not want to play in the toddler room! However, we may try to meet once or twice a month at a park or free movie. I'll keep you posted. I just became a member of polkplaygroup.com, and so far I've only been able to make one playdate. I'm hoping to make it to some more soon. As far as I know, they do not take a break in the summer. I may have to check out some of those MOPS programs as well! I'd love to get together sometime. Most of my friends work now, so I'm trying to get out more. I'm a kind of a "homebody", but I realize that Savannah needs to be around other kids besides her older sister. So, that's why I started joining playgroups so that we both can meet new friends!

Pennington7777-where does the polkplaygroup meet? Did your church have a MOPS program or were they just meeting. The MOPS I joined does not start until August.

I know where Highlands Church of the Nazerene is, where are the other MOPS meetings at? Thanks for all the help!

The playgroup at Highland Park Naz is just a playgroup, not MOPS. I'm not that familiar with MOPS, but I wouldn't mind trying one out somewhere. For the Polk Playgroup, just go to www.polkplaygroup.com. There was another discussion somewhere in this forum that listed it and a couple other playgroups. That is how I found it. The Polk Playgroup meets on Tuesdays and Fridays at different places (parks, Family Fun Center, homes, etc). I've just recently joined, so I don't know that much about it. Hope that helps! Smiler

I attend FBC Mops at night on Wednesdays. I like it. A bunch of my friends attend the Thursday Mops. I will probably go to both in the fall.
