Hi there! I am new to polkmoms, and relatively new to the area, we moved here a year ago, and by "here" I mean Lake Alfred. I've been pretty much out of circulation for the whole year as I was pregnant and on bedrest for the entire pregnancy. I just gave birth on April 30th to a little girl, so I am still going to be a bit slow to catch up. I am a married sahm mom to 4 boys and one girl, aged 16,15,13,3,and 3 weeks old. I am looking to learn the area, make some friends, and meet some other kids for my 3 year old to play with. Hoping to get to know you all!

4 boys and a girl, you sound like me! I also have 4 boys and the youngest being a little girl. One of my boys is 3 years old also.

Rest up and get well, and come out to meet your fellow PolkMoms soon. Welcome to Polk County and PolkMoms!

By the way, I looooooooooooooooooooove the name Bethany! I wanted to name my only daughter that after my great great grandmother Bethany Davis Spivey. Hubby liked the name but it didnt end with "N" long story, if you are interested I wrote a blog long ago about it here

I love that there are other large families on here Smiler
I have every intention of getting out as soon as I can. After so many months of bedrest, I have terrible cabin fever. I am finding myself slow to recover though as I had a very difficult delivery.
Thank you for commenting on my name.I like my it now, but as a child couldn't stand it. Its nice to be a little different you find as you get older I think.
I did read your blog entry, too funny Smiler My husband and I had some interesting name conversations too Smiler. I wish I could blog. I don't have the discipline to keep up with it though.

Hi, Bethany! What a blessing your little daughter is here and you MADE it through bedrest! I, too, was on complete bedrest with our second son. Definitely challenging! There actually is a bedrest thread on here. I am sure you could add to that too. I am sure I can come up with a few things to add of my own, so I'll think on it.

Shawn has been very encouraging of me to write about our pregnancies and issues we encountered, some of which others here have too. I will add ours soon.

I have been to Lake Alfred a couple of times when my mother was in an assisted living facility last year. We took a field trip to their Fire Station and went to their library. Very quaint place! My husband's aunt and uncle like to go to their thrift stores and actually found an old year book that my husband's grandfather was in!! As you feel up to it, maybe we can start branching out to each city, so think about something we could come closer to you to do with you.

I hope we will get to meet, in the meantime, as Shawn said, rest up and get well! Smiler

Welcome to the group! Glad everything is well with you and the baby. There is a very good tea room in Lake Alfred-maybe one day we can have a Mom Day and go to the Tea Room.

I have seen that tea room, very interesting! I will definitely try it out.

I will post my birth story soon. It was very traumatic, and I am still dealing with it all. Smiler
