Evening Ladies I need some help locating a good pediatrician OR family/general practice physician office that accepts Healthease insurance. Even if you don’t know about the insurance part names of doctors or offices would be a big help. An even bigger help is an office or doc that does well with rare disorders or at least open to discussing something out of the scope of chicken pox and runny noses. Distance matters and then again dosnt matter! I would love to find a saint of a doctor 2 blocks from the house, who wouldn’t, but I’m willing to go the distance for a GOOD doctor. I know it’s a lot to ask but as my elementary teachers always said, “the only stupid question is the one that wasn’t asked”.

Thanks for any help I can get!
Amanda

Hi Amanda, I understand and I am sure a lot of us moms understand the need of a good pediatrician. In the infant toddler section of PolkMoms, another mom started a thread that received great feedback. You might want to scroll through those suggestions.

Moms out there, please feel free to continue adding recomendations on this thread or the other. The more recomendations a doc receives, the better.

Amanda the other thread is here http://talk.polkmoms.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6821058796/m/3861048407

We use Lakeside Pediatrics as well. Dr. Cory is our primary doctor, but also love Mr. Snow and Mrs. Wallace (the nurse practitioners) as well! They do have a tendency to run behind in the busy seasons, but we try to make our appointments first thing in the AM or right after "lunch" at 1:30pm.

IF YOU DON'T MIND BE ASKING ABOUT THE ABOVE QUOTE, I HAVE ALOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH MY SON AND HIS "RARE DISORDERS", HOW OLD IS YOUR CHILD, THE REASON I AM ASKING, AFTER SPEAKING WITH JUST ABOUT ALL OF THE NORMAL PEDIATRICIAN IN TOWN, MOST OF THEM WILL TELL YOU THE SAME THING, BEYOND THE "NORMAL" , COMMON COLD, CHICKEN POCKS, ETC., YOU NEED TO GO TO A SPECIALIST, NOW HERE'S THE CATCH, THE REASON I'M ASKING HOW OLD, IS BECAUSE THERE IS A GREAT DEVELOPMENTAL PEDIATRICIAN IN LAKELAND, SHE IS PART OF THE EARLY STEPS PROGRAM, AS LONG AS YOUR CHILD IS UNDER 3, YOU QUALIFY (WITHOUT INSURANCE), HER NAME IS CAROL LILLY, SHE IS A TEACHER AND STUDIES ONGOING STUDIES WITH USF, SHE WORKS HAND IN HAND WITH ALL CHILDRENS, SAINT JOE'S, UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY HOSP. SHE IS GREAT. IF YOU NEED MORE INFO. DROP ME A LINE. EVEN IF YOUR CHILD IS ABOVE 3, YOU CAN STILL SET AND APPOINTMENT WITH HER, AND I CAN GET YOU THE INFO. I HAVE NEVER MET A DOCTOR WITH SO MANY RESOURCES, OR WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR THE "NOT SO NORMAL STUFF"

Another recommendation here for Lakeside Pediatrics. We see Dr Leviten generally - but have been equally happy with Dr Cory, Dr Chachad and any of the Nurse Practitioners.

My son has had to see numerous specialists since he was born for a minor hearing issue - but because it was present - you have to rule out umpteen things. Lakeside Peds Doctors were always on the ball in getting referrals in to the appropriate people for him to have his appointments set up, and they went through the results each time, thoroughly, with me.

In our case - something has turned out to be nothing - but this practice was very supportive of me during this process.

Amanda,
I love my boys pediatrician. We go to the Watson Clinic South office and see Dr. Robert Eanett. My oldest son is six years old and has Asperger's, a high functioning form of autism. Dr. Eanett has been so good about getting my son diagnosed properly and helping out with finding the best therapy center and even helped us out with getting the school system to provide support. I absolutely love him. I know that he treats alot of the autistic and down syndrome children in Polk County. He is very open to talking to patients about any kind of new treatments or care for any child. I don't know if he is still taking new patients but it is worth looking into. There number is 647-8012. If you live on the North end of Lakeland, my sister uses Dr. Cornett and the North Watson Clinic Pediatric office and she loves him.

Good luck with your search. I know what it is like wanting to have a good doctor. My oldest son has seen plenty.
