Ok, you always hear the joke, the fastest way to a mans heart is through his stomach, well, with that said, I wanted to start a new forum....

Do you have a husband that has his favorite dish? You know the one you cook about twice a year to get those honey-dos done around the house? When he walks through the door and smells it, he looks at you and says, ok what do you want?

For my husband, its chicken and dumplins, it takes me forever to cook this because I roll out my own dumplings. But he loves it so much, it takes half a Saturday to cook, and he eats the leftovers all week long.

Well, I thought we could exchange those recipes. We might find there are alot of things out there that our guys would call one of thier favorites, and who knows we might even get more of those honey-dos done, lol. What do ya'll think?

Shannon, this is a great idea! I will have to think on it. My husband is so great about eating whatever I make, regardless. I don't taste most of what I make because I happen to be one of God's choosier eaters. Big Grin Therefore, most of the time I have no idea how something tastes, and believe me, he will be honest, too! I'll think on it as I don't have time to now, but I look forward to hearing what everyone else cooks. BTW, Post that recipe, will ya! You roll out your own dumplins? Pretty, smart, AND a great cook. Wink

My husband also loves Chicken and Dumplings - I don't roll mine though - I do drop in dumplings with this recipe - comes out fabulous and it's not a whole lot of work - you should try it - maybe you can get way more bang for your 'honey do' buck this way Smiler

ps this recipe calls for way too much salt - I use a quarter teaspoon or less.

Okay, I will have to try the drop in dumplings. I roll mine out as well, but leave them a little thick. I like mine a little doughy. Crazy thing is Eddy isn't into dumplings- How could he not?

He's a steak and potato man. His favorite meal is filet mignon (the ones I get from Green's market in Winter Haven for $4 a piece!). I marinate them for 2 or 3 days in canola oil, fresh garlic, meat tenderizer, fresh ground pepper, onion powder, and usually what ever else the mood may strike me for. I turn them in a Ziploc baggie in the fridge.

I then take baking potatoes and make "chunks" with the skin on. I put them in a baking dish (glass with a lid) with about a half a stick of real butter Eeker real bacon bits and scallions chopped. Salt and pepper to taste. Then bake it with lid on. When it comes out, coat it with shredded cheddar or mixed cheeses. When serving; throw on a couple dollops of sour cream. I grill the steaks.

Add a side of sautéed spinach and hubby is in heaven.

He also LOVES Sheppard pie. That is one that my Eddy and my kids inhale, minus Ethan. He takes after me and doesn’t like it.

my husband is the most pickiest eater in the world. i'm sooo glad my daughter does not take after him.
he is a meat and potatoes guy. i get sooo sick of potatoes. you can only cook potatoes so many ways.
i think his favorite dish is chop steaks with ponderosa sauce on them. then potatoes, i chunk then in a glass bowl add a little water a half stick butter parsely flacks and salt and pepper and cover and cook in the microwave for 20-30 mins. then of course dinners not complete without corn.

Ok ladies, yes my husband is spoiled, he will not eat the drop in kind, so here it is.....

Shannon's Homemade Chicken and Dumplings

1 Large Cut Up Fryer
2 Cups Flour
2 celery stalks
6 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water, as needed
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup milk

1. Cook chicken and celery in chicken broth until no longer pink. Remove chicken and celery(it was for flavor only), Let chicken cool. When cool remove skin and bones, cut into bite size pieces, set aside.

2. In large bowl, add flour and 1/2 teasoon salt. Add water a little at a time tossing with a fork, until it gets a dough consistancy for rolling out, then deivde dough into fourths.

3. Roll out one fourth as thin as possible, and cut into 2-2 1/2 inch square (I use a pizza cutter for this, its easier), Drop one at a time into the boiling broth. Repeat with remaining dough. (If it gets too thick add a little more hot water, not cold)

Turn heat to low, stir in your chicken and then the milk.

Simmer for about 10 minutes add salt and pepper for taste.

Also this is a great "cheap meal", it makes enough for all 5 of us to have at least two helpings, and 3 for hubby. Serve with biscuits.

Graham Cracker Eclair is my hubby's favorite. Well, it's almost everybody's favorite. I have a tutorial on how to do it on my blog.

http://radicoollife.blogspot.com/2008/07/tutorial-today...-cracker-eclair.html

It's super easy, I always make it with my daughter who is 3. You can use the fat free versions of all of the ingredients and it really isn't too bad for you, either.

Oh, is there a specific amount on the flour? Just wanted to check. Thanks!
I might have to ask my husband what his favorite dish is......he eats just about everything!

My husband loves most of my cooking, one of his favorites is a dish called chicken enchiladas, although it's more like a casserole. I roll up tortillas w/ chicken and cheese, put them into a cake pan and top with a cheese mixture then bake. Add some sour cream and homemade salsa, yummy! This is my most requested meal when I cook for other people. It is a bit pricey to make, but it is soooo good.
