So I have been asking myself this question, which is better, powder or liquid laundry detergent?

Since I am a self professed laundry queen, well constant launderer, I need to know which is best and why I am buying what I am buying.

I have always bought liquid; but why? I have no idea!

So I will admit a little something extra, something you may not want to know...

Eddy and I run almost every night and our running clothes stink! Of course we are major sweating and I felt like the funk was not completely coming out of our clothes when washed.

I am kind of scrambling around to try new things to remedy this.

I am an avid Tide fan. So I went to Tide powder and it seems to have helped tremendously.

So ladies, I'm asking you- Do you think there is a difference in powder or liquid? Which do you buy? And why do you buy what you buy?

Oh if you have tips on getting the sweat out of clothes, please feel free to add them for me Smiler

What's better, powder or liquid detergent?

I was always a devout liquid detergent user (that's what my mom used for as long as I can remember). I was also devoted to Gain because I have really sensitive skin and it never seemed to bother me.

Then I got married...and my husband was an even more devout powdered detergent user (Tide)! So being the compromising and caring wife that I am (not to mention that fact that he does the majority of the laundry so who am I to argue) we went with powdered but stuck with Gain.

I don't mind powdered, but the one thing I will say that bothers me is on rare occaisions it will clump up in the clothes and not dissolve well (I know, put it in the water before you put the clothes in and that's not a problem, but sometimes I forget!).

My husband doesn't like powder. He says it stays on the clothes and doesn't break up completely. Sometimes I do notice it, but I always forget to put the powder in first. Is that the key? Let it dissolve a little, then put the clothes in? I have heard that powder also has less harmful (for your skin, for the environment) ingredients in it. I don't know how true that is. I use powder for my daughter's clothes and cloth diapers. I use liquid for everyone else.

I have used the liquid for years, I always had a problem with the clumping and not dissolving, although, I probably put too many clothes in the washer at times too, which may be why it doesn't dissolve properly. But I have stuck to the liquid.

I use liquid because it's easy to dispense.

To cut the sweat funk - throw in a half a cup of white vinegar in with your regular detergent.

ok ya'll got me thinking.
i have always used the liquid and have no clue why. i guess i will have to get a box of powder and see what i think the diffrence is.
i have a front load lg washing machine. i love it. i guess i have to see if the only diffrence is price. also i love tide. i have always used it since leaving home. i feel it's the only thing that gets my clothes really clean.
if anyone else has anything good to say about other brands i may have to start testing diffrent ones out. (oh no going out of my comfort zone) lol.

OK, we use the liquid because we don't want to have dissolving issues like with powder. We use ALL Clear - sensitive skin - and yes - like Albee - it's easy to dispense. Wink From what others have told me over the years - letting some water dissolve the powder detergent a bit first helps for clumping. And as Shannon - -1Tired Mommy - has mentioned not overstuffing can make a difference, too, even with liquid being rinsed out enough.

Courtney, do you like your front loader?

I am into my 2nd box of the powder ladies, I have to say I am loving it. - It goes back to the, "why did I use the liquid so long?"

The laundry scent is more pronounced with the powder than with the liquid. I have had no problem with clumping at all! Maybe because I have a front loader and it dilutes the powder with water before sending it to the tub.

I think I may be making a permanent change?

By the way - love my front loading washing machine!

i love my front loader washer also. i used to have a top load washer, and i always hated bending into the thing to get my clothes out. this one seems more user friendly. and i love all the diffrent wash settings it has. it has a special sanitary cycle that i love too.
