Does anyone have plans to do any weekend gardening anytime soon?
I found this post in The Ledger that gives some plant choice pointers. It discusses the Parrot Flower- aka heliconia- which is very easy and one of my favorites. Highly recommended by this gardening mom! What are some of your favorites? Anyone else a garden guru? Anyone interested in starting a gardening hobby? Yes, I too, love to garden. With football season, I probably will not be caught in the garden until spring time---that is other than watering and pulling weeds.
We love orchids. As most may know, these are not easy flowers to tend to. We have at least 30 orchid plants. My husband built a little orchid house complete with its own irrigation system, as you know--orchids need a lot of water. My husband also loves bonsai. He has sculpted mnay many plants, some of which he has brought back with him from his excursions hunting in the woods. They are beautiful, though I do not have the eye for this. It relaxes him after a long day, and that, I am thankful for! Also love all exotics. I have many crown of thorn plants. Use your gloves when handling these! Also have a some bamboo growing, as well as papaya trees, and hot pepper plants. I love the smell of my night blooming jasmine too!! One pet peeve of mind are those darn bouganvillias!!! They are beautiful to look at, but grow like weeds. I do not wish anymore in my yard! |

I love bouganvillias!! Granted, I always put them in the yard away from the kids in animals but they are BEAUTIFUL!!
 I am just not one that wants to tend to plants very much. I am happy if I can just let God take care of them......LoL!! I like to water in the early evenings......that relaxes me, especially in the nicer weather. I also love crape myrtles. I am just more of a simple plant person. I know I would kill everything exotic that I touched!! I always plant in the spring. I didn't know you were supposed to now. ~Shiloh~ |
