Our next project isn't in need of a business, we'll do it ourselves, but I wanted your opinions on bathroom counter materials.
Do you recommend tile, granite? What else is there? We really need to redo our main-house bathroom counter and are thinking of adding double sinks rather than replacing with just one again. Well I would say granite, just because I hate cleaning grout. And with smaller children, they get everyting in the grout.
(Still not sure how mustard ended up in the bathroom, back to Shawn's post earlier(eyeliner), I know it was my fault.) Anyway, if you have the room I would definatley go with the double sinks, it is soooooo convenient. You'll actually use less granite, but I don't really know if its cheaper, depending on the price of the sink. But you don't know how much you'll love 2 sinks until you have them. |

Michelle, I have corian in my bathrooms and granite in my kitchen. I love both types of surfaces.
Granite is porus and will absorb oils/grease. I would definitely seal it. It is pretty easy- you just rub it on. You never know if you might have lotion or baby oil on the counters? Corian is a great material. I would have done granite in my bathroom too but I have a lot of slate in there and didn't want the granite to compete with it and chose a more solid colored corian. You can see it on the front flip right now-lol that Shannon just referenced. Either of those are great- I love the earthy-ness of granite the best. Dark granite hides stains better and lighter corian or solid surfaces hides scratches better. So if you are set on a lighter color you could go with corian - or just seal the heck out of the granite or darker color - go with granite. ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ Breaking Lillian of the bink. Thank you both, Shawn, I recall the granite in your kitchen, not what is in your bathroom. But, I'll look back at the pic here again. lol
You guys'll see, I think I have room for two sinks, but it'll definitely demand a change in the cabinetry, too. Which is fine by me. We're planning on framing out the huge wall mirror to appear as two separate mirrors. Doing that to our masterbath as well. I couldn't remember corian, thanks Shawn. We've heard that is a good option, too. Oh, and the tips on which to get and color-wise, too, awesome! Anyone have ideas on where to go and prices? BTW, Shannon, I hate grout issues, too. Ick, but sometimes, you just can't get around it. Anyone know someone that can fix ac's... or have an extra one they don't use... Ours has been out for 4 days now and its starting to get the best of me... Its not so bad at night since its been rainy and helps get rid of some of the heat- we put fans in the windows and let the kids sleep in the livingroom where its cool. But its been up to 92 inside when its 84 outside...
Any help that wouldn't "break" us would be great... Father-in-law has the part to try to replace it but since he don't have the tools to cut the line he can't do it... Melissa- Mommy to four!! Felicity, Alayna, Bryson and Gavin |

We have a mobile & have seen the show. Boy, could we ever use their help! Three adults, and a two year old---just two bedrooms! We are in such need of another bedroom. Money being the biggest issue! We have plenty of land to add on, but no money or ability!! But, love and faith get us through.

We have the land to add on, build a new house or put a new double wide here- just money is not on our side. My parents had a single wide this same size and I am trying to talk my husband into getting his parents to move a few things and make this a three bedroom- the girls room and the livingroom would be a little smaller but it would give us an extra room that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg- Our ac is working now- FIL friend came and "hot wired" it - we have no heat till he comes back in a few months with a new thermostat- but in Florida we don't need the heat just the ac... awww, thanks for thinking of me! And on a side note, for those who are getting tile laid, I'd recommend having it done on a 45' angle. Makes the room look bigger and comes out looking really nice! Adds a little something to the room. Now, it will be a little more expensive, but not out of the ball park, but that'll depend on what your budget is, the company/person you choose, and how worth it you feel it is in the resale value of your home. Talking about Home repairs My husband and I bought his uncles Single Wide trailer 2 \b2b had to gut the entire thing and put in 2 completely new bathrooms new floors we are still trying to cover the porches so I can have more space in the house I am blessed with a Handy Man, also we are still working on the yard, My husband works for slocum ponds the make ponds water falls and do odd jobs with landscapeings etc, we also have lots of Fish ,and aquatic Plants
so needless to say our yard is the last thing done but it's getting there Van's Mama |
