i would use guitarjee's recipe with one of these sub's instead of peanut butter.
i hope one of these things can help.

Thank you! Unfortunately, we can't use soy either. Frowner I'll look some on my own when we get the computer working correctly. I have seen one post posted twice, keep getting disconnected etc. still so thanks for everyone's efforts for me! Wink Maybe the sun butter would work??? Confused What is it? We can't do nuts, basically.

sun butter is delicious!!!!! I love it! It is crushed sunflower seeds. You can get it crunchy with bits and pieces of the seeds or you can get it smooth and creamy, the consistency of a creamy peanut butter. When first prompted to try it, I thought no way since I have a strong dislike to peanut butter, but it is nothing like peanut butter.- it was a duh! moment for me, there is not peanuts in sun butter just the sunflower seeds, I am so glad I tried it.

I love it!

Shawn,
What...you don't like peanut butter? Whoa, you mean no Reese Cups, no peanut butter and jelly?
What did you eat when the power was out for a week during hurricane Charlie?
I know alot of people are allergic but I don't think I've met a person yet who hates peanut butter.
Just messing with ya. We go through so much peanut butter in our family it's funny.

Thanks Shawn, I wasn't sure what "sun butter" was. We've tried apple butter, but thought it wouldn't work so well. We may be able to try it with sun butter. Where can you buy it? What else is in it?

mimib "M" Do you own stock in peanut butter? You may want to consider buying some if your family goes through a lot! Wink

mimib, I don't know what is wrong with me, Big Grin but yes you are right, no reeses cups or pb&j's for me!
I love boiled peanuts, but that is it! Anything else with peanuts in it or just roasted, yuck! I don't want it.

Michelle, I am not sure where to buy sunbutter local. My sister-in-law buys it for me (she is sweet) at a health food store in Tampa. I am sure stores here would sell it, maybe even Publix?

Like Peanut butter is only ground peanuts, sunbutter is only ground sunflower seeds, nothing else added, just sunflower seeds.

As far as the hurricanes go, my kids did get a lot of peanut butter sandwiches. I grilled on our charcoal grill a lot too. What a rough summer that was! Ryan was a month and a half old when Charlie came through. I was worried about finding formula and diapers the most.
Charlie we were out of power for 8 days and one of the others (can't remember which) 4 days.
