It does make me feel old when I think back to those "Atari" days. We were the only ones in the neighborhood that got one.
I love spaced invaders, packman, frogger and oh yea who can forget that boring Pong Sports! I have to share, I look at the birth announcements in the Ledger to see what baby names are really common so I can try to avoid. Can you believe someone named a baby girl Atari !!!!! I wonder if was a mom my age (36) or if was a young mom like 20 who thought she was thinking up something unique. haha Mommy to Lacie, #2 coming any day now!!!!! |

I know someone who named their little girl Liberty and they are having a boy and they were going to name him Justice! They have since changed the name.
My cousin named all of her children based on what was happening around her at the time. ie when her first son was born it was storming so his name is Storm, next she named Forrest because she lived in a forrest. They she had Rainbow, Sky and Spring. It is amazing to me what some people think for names. |

Melissa, I had an Atari too! Frogger was my favorite. We also had a pretty cool Popeye game and of course Pac man. Those were the days....
Getting my Wii was nuts! I was running from store to store for months. A friend, even my bug guy would call me from a Wal-Mart or Target and say they are unloading the truck with some of the system- get up here now! By the time I would get there they would be gone. I too had the "there went the last one" comments. Uggh. It was so frustrating. A call came from a friend at the Mulberry Wal-Mart that they had some. She was buying one and couldn’t get me one as they were selling them one per person and had been on the lookout for months too! I was on my way, and of course they were gone by the time I had gotten there. The electronics manager told me the Wal-Mart by the old movie theater on south Florida received a shipment too. I told myself, by the time I get there they will be gone, but went anyway. I was so glad I did! When I neared the electronics department I spotted a lady with one in her cart and then I heard a sales associate say, "Last one, does anyone want it" I screamed and jumped, "ME, ME. I need it!" I got it! It was such a silly happy moment for me. How I got it was the Wal-Mart truck had come that morning and they had several crates of Wii's. They pulled them off the end of the truck first and brought them out to sell. When they were gone they were gone. They turned away about 40 people in line that wanted one when they ran out. They then said when they got to the front of the truck and through other “goods” they found another crate of 12 Wii’s. They didn’t know they were in there and brought them out 40 minutes after everyone left. I got there right at the right time. It was meant to be. My kids were so excited to get the system. I don’t think they will ever know the many stores and towns and let downs I went through to get that thing! The things a mom will do. ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ Breaking Lillian of the bink. Just call me, "The Bad Guy" |
