This article highlights cellular companies as well as some gps companies; tells which is the better value and who offers what service.
I had no idea that you can pin point your child so accurately. This article tells the ability to map out where your child can go, and if they stray from the range you provide, you will be notified. Very interesting. Do any of you moms find this technology wonderful, prying, something to make you feel safer for when our children venture? Also mentions tracking adults such as elderly. Do you think any of you would be tempted to use this service on a spouse? Give me your thoughts A good find: GPS to locate the kids ~Mother to Brandon, Austin, Ethan, Ryan and Lillian~ |

Hey, Shawn! I didn't check out your link, but this struck a chord with me. Last Wednesday, while driving home on I-4 from USF Tampa, I saw a wicked wreck happen in my rearview mirror. Since it was dark and 911 is easier to dial than *fhp, that is what I dialed. They transferred me and I reported the accident. My phone automatically switched to emergency mode, and I had to manually turn it off. This would not have happened if I had dialed *fhp. What does this mean for me? I'm guessing that it makes your phone a locator beacon of sorts, and you can bet I'd dial 911 if I were involved in a wreck. However, I would never have known about it if I hadn't seen that accident and reported it. Anyway...
For kids, this might be a good thing, especially with those who fall into the categoryr of "troublesome teen" or maybe in the case of a bad divorce/custody battle if you are concerned for safety. Outside of that, it is a bit invasive of one's privacy! Angie |
