Has anyone been here recently?

The last time I was there, they were PACKED with kids with absolutely nothing for any of them to do in the waiting room. Service was SLOW at best, and they didn't prioritize the waiting patients based upon the urgency to be seen. (ex: kid with asthma attack not put to top of list, forced to wait.. unable to breathe, getting lightheaded and near passing out... while kids with 'stuffy noses' went ahead of asthma kid).

My DD has developed pink eye this afternoon... and I'm trying to get her started on the antibiotics so I can possibly work tomorrow. (I know, that sounds terrible...).

But our last experience was so terrible, I don't know if it's worth it.

Has anyone had a better experience lately? How late are they open?

Wow, that stinks that you have had that experience. I have never seen priority not being used there as far as someone sicker than someone else because everytime I go it is almost empty.

Maybe I have been super lucky? I have been maybe 5 times and always had the best care. Loved the doctors there.

We (1 year old) went on a Sunday late morning. We were in and out in about an hour with an ear infection and meds BUT when I followed up with our primary a few days later, they said there was no evidence of an ear infection so meds were stopped. Just a stuffy nose and cold thing I had over reacted to. At such a little age they look so pittiful and helpless. Watson Clinic has a walk in clinic that I have had good luck with. I don't think they will see children under 2 years.

As an adult with asthma I have been in the E.R. waiting room with an asthma attack and chest pains (from the asthma) and seen patients who are not in distress get taken back before me and it makes me so upset when that happens... I could not imagine having that happen to my child! I think I would just completely show my not so nice side. Bizee, I am so sorry that happened to you guys! I'm glad you shared your experience though as I was thinking of checking them out.
Shell, It's better to over react than not react at all or wait until it's too late! My youngest has had chronic ear infections and she has partial hearing loss in one ear. We have certainly spent our share of time in doctor's offices/ER's with ear infections and one thing I learned is that early stage ear infections are often misdiagnosed. If a child is crying just before or during the exam it makes their ear drums red and a lot of times they doctor will rule that as beginning stage ear infection. How many times are kids apprehensive, nervous, crying before and during a doctors appointment... like 98% of the time?! I always ask the doctor to recheck after she calms down... and more than once they have reversed their original diagnosis. Am I known as the pain-in-the-butt mom? Probably! But I don't care. I want to make sure my kids are healthy and if that means I have to be pushy then I'll be pushy! Cool

I don't have a name anymore, I've simply become "Alyssa's mom" or "Alexis' mom"

Shawn... did you notice whether or not they've updated the waiting area? When we were there, it was obviously an "adult" waiting room during the day... not a single kids' toy or book in sight. Not even a kid friendly picture on the wall. Nothing was child proofed... it was ridiculous to expect kids to sit in that room for more than a minute. And the same goes for the exam rooms... grown up oriented.

In the end, I'm taking the day off work and just going to our ped. DD fell asleep last night and I wasn't going to wake her up.

Bizeemomma, I hope your daughter feels better soon Frowner I am sorry that you both have to go through this.

I went about 2 months ago. I have gone twice with Lillian for strep throat in her short little life. They had the rapid strep test there so we knew she was positive before we left – that was nice to know.

I know this sounds bad but I was pretty much oblivious to my surroundings. When Lilly has a high fever she tends to be listless, so unlike her 100mph self and I am in a continual stress that she could have a febrile seizure. Moral of the story is, she isn't down playing and I'm not surveying the scene- Sorry.

I did notice the last time a Lego table in the very front part of the waiting room where some older kids were playing waiting on a sibling already being seen. There was a dad reading a book to a young child there once before but the book could have been brought from home?

Me personally, I like to take my own stuff anyway for my kids to play with. I don’t necessarily ban them from things completely when in a doctors office, but I can not tell you how many times I have taken Ryan to a well baby appointment and not a few days later him and Lilly would come down with the "funk" that I am sure they could have picked up in the doc office. Same when we were in the ER getting Lilly's forehead glued back together. My aunt and cousin came up to the ER with us when they found out we were there and all 4 of us picked up a yucky cold. It was too coincidental, we had to have picked it up there since we were all together and they gave Lilly some toys to play with.

I like to keep a small canvas tote in the car for such occasions with a couple of books and interactive toys.

I have been several times for both my daughter & husband (they will see adults too) we were always in & out.

Everytime I have been there is always a Disney movie playing & in one corner there is a little table & blocks for the little ones. I agree with Shawn though, I do not like the idea of my child playing with toys like that a doctor's appointments. A few years ago we were at the doctor's office (not Nite Owl) & not 2 days later she was discovered with lice. Gross! I know she had to get it from there, because she wasn't anywhere else she could have picked it up from.

I think the facility Nite Owl uses is also a regular physician's doctor's office during the day that doesn't deal with pediatrics. I think this is the reason it doesn't seem more kid friendly with kid improved decorations & posters like you see at other pediatrician offices.

I've only been there once - when my son was 1-yr-old and had on and off fever for days. We were there as soon as the door opened, so we didn't have to wait so long. The doctors and nurses were very nice and accommodating. They were able to perform tests on site and give us some answers. We did end up going to the ER that night per the Nite Owl doctor's instructions. He wanted more thorough testing that they could not do at the clinic. They even called the hospital to let them know we were coming. Overall, it was a good experience.

I've taken my accident prone daughter there a couple of times and we had a long wait and so close to really sick people all ages. Her dad took her there another time when she hurt her nose at cheerleading and I guess they have old xray equipment because they saw a pefectly round circle on her forehead on the x-ray and told him to take her to the ER they didn't like what they saw. Absolutely nothing showed on the ER xray, it looked like a perfect circle quarter size on her night owl xray and they thought something was wrong with her but it turns out to be there equipment. Not sure I would take her for any xrays anymore.
